If someone was in a psychotic state but all of the delusions are now gone what are the chances that they would have another episode in their life? If they were on Abilify. ? If they came off would they have another episode?

Ability helped me tremendously after I had three separate experiences of psychosis over about a year long period. It was the medicine that finally clicked for my body and brain. I went through about 7 other medicines before that so just know that everybody is different and keep trying if this one doesn't improve your mental state. Oh, and I got the shots once a month so I didn't have to remember to take a pill every day. I highly recommend them!

If you had one before, you are at risk of experiencing that again. Unfortunately this is not a yes or no question. If you experience one again while on abilify, talk to your therapist and try a new medication. If you are fine while using abilify, but then experience on after ending your use of abilify, you would need to consider being represcribed.

Communicate, communicate with your mental healthcare team.
I don't think most of us become delusional overnight. I know in my own case there are markers pointing to my travelling down the path to delusion. These have been discussed with my psychiatrist and we have a preagreed upon indicator of when I should be getting help. These have also been discussed with my loved ones so they are familiar themselves with the signs before I get all out delusional. I encourage you to do the same. Not sure what I can say about abilify other than it is part of my larger cocktail. I have a hunch it is in the mix to prevent my obsessing over things which I imagine could lead to delusions. I have not had problems with this since given the prescription. |
