I noticed that all my promblems with my nightmares and bipolor and schizophrenia and depression didnt start in till after i took a manger postion at work...i didnt realize the stress and stuff it takes...and i was wondering could that have caused it? I work full time as a manger and part time crew at another job on top of taking care of 3 kids which only one lives with me and taking care of my dad and other family and helping everyone else

My understanding is that we who are Bipolar (or other mental illnesses) may live relatively normally until a trigger comes our way. Stress is a major trigger. Can you look back over your life and see other occasions where your mental health may have determined or caused situations? In my case it took a similar combination of rather sudden work and life stresses to lead to my first breakdown. However, I have looked backwards and in hindsite can see times my bipolar dictated events and situations that I hadn't previously realized.
Question. I assume that now you are diagnosed and medicated. Have you been able to manage these stressors since? Also, have you rewarded yourself and acknowledged what terrific job you are doing? Are you in a position to lighten the load? Is it a matter of giving yourself permission to do so? |

Stressors are a huge factor in mood disorders. You mention a few mood disorders. Do you mean you've been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder?
![]() Perhaps you could create a dream log and see how your dreams relates to your work days. When I worked, I had a sressful position and often found myself dreaming about work. Then I'd wake up and it would be time to start my work day. I felt like I never clocked out of work! |

My unprofessional hunch is it seems like it isn't only being a manager and working two jobs. Looks like there is a lot on your plate. My guess is its a combination of stress factors in your life. I agree with Rainyday with creating and keeping a dream log. One note If you buy a dream book make certain its psychologically oriented as opposed to fortune telling. The latter books are BS in my opinion. Maybe a meds check too.

Yes stress can make mental health issues worse. You need to take good care of yourself. Please go see a doctor if you haven't already some adjustment in medication may be necessary. Therapy may also be helpful. It does seem like you are taking on board an awful lot right now, see if you can cut this down or take some leave.
