I have a very strange thing happening in my brain. When I think about something bad that could happen, I'm getting a strange scary feeling. According to my experience with other types of thoughts, when I don't say a thing, it happens, so when I think about something bad, I always say it to someone in order to prevent it (it works). The thing now is: two days ago I learned a friend of mine had passed away. I was shocked, then I had this type of scary thoughts about my brother being dead and the consecuenses from it like his funeral, me being devastated, and so on. Today was my friend's funeral, and these thoughts came back. They wouldn't leave me all day, and at times I felt bad, like I'm having a cold. Do I see in the future, or it's just some problem with me? Help!

Hi, What you're describing sounds like OCD to me. You're describing intrusive thoughts.

Common anxiety can be behind those feelings.

Hello sociopathbg: You know... we here on PC are not in a position to diagnose what's going on with you. For that, you'd need to see a mental health professional. (Perhaps you do?)

Personally, I don't believe in clairvoyance. So I don't believe you're seeing into the future. My personal, non-professional opinion would be that you're simply struggling through a fairly intense period of stress & anxiety. Perhaps you're a fairly anxious person anyway. And the passing of your friend has exacerbated your stress level.

Your comment regarding saying something to someone to prevent something from happening does sound a bit OCD-like. But before you adopt that as a diagnosis, I think it would be wise to consult a mental health professional. I know, in my own case, I have some OCD-like thoughts & behaviors similar to what you describe. But, so far as I know, no one has actually diagnosed me as having OCD.

Well, it happens in normal days as well. And I'm not seeking a diagnosis, but an opinion.

Also some songs got stuck in my head and all of them have the word "death". The strange is when I think about them, I'm not scared.
Thanks for this!

One last thing: I keep imagining this in my head, but now I'm calm. I don't want to tell anybody about this but I'm starting to feel the bad thing is going to happen. Next month I'm starting university and I have to move into another city, and I think something bad could happen to my brother while I'm away. I don't know what to think!

And also I don't have to believe in the proverb that death always comes by three, right? The thing is my great-grandmother may die soon and that also scares me.
