Hello
At my last CBT the therapist is concerned I have early onset dementia. I take 2 mg of alprazolam a day and have been taking it 13 yrs. So if I taper off is it going to heal or delay it. I'm 50 and don't know if its worth it it's one of the hardest meds to come off I also am getting divorced. I already have memory problems.

Have you had a physical with complete lab work recently? If not I would say rule out anything physical like they round, hormones or vitamin deficiencies .

The stress of getting divorced is enough for anyone to forget things.

As for your benzo , yeah they can be hell to get off of.... But if the taper is done slow enough it's usually doable for most people.

In the middle of a divorce????? I don't think that I would taper off until the dust settled.

Take care

Another thing is 9/15/15 Had my dose of paroxotine reduced from 40mg to 20mg early morning on 9/30/15 I woke up and it was like a pack of firecrackers going off in my head. I have not been well since they did medical test but no type of neurology . My ex-to be left I have been without income for a year SDDI just denied my claim and now u tell me this.

Thanks for all your input yes alprazolam is known to cause this and if it's not going to heal why go through the withdrawal .
