Do you believe everything happens for a reason, or do you believe that everything is just a ball of chance?
Maybe both, but wouldn't they cancel each other out? What do you think?

Everything happens for a reason. But the reasons all have to do with the things of this world... not some nether world we imagine exists "somewhere out there..."

Personally I think it's all chance, but who really knows...
Although, there have been times I thought it was all for a reason. I guess my opinion changes depending on how my life is at the time. |

When depressed/suicidal, the tendency is to think that what happens very random and often quite bad; that you are on a path in life that you do not like and cannot alter; the die is cast so what is the use of sticking around anyways.
Other times, I believe there is a guiding hand. That we can make this world a better place through acts of kindness. That bad things happen so that we can become more humble, patient and kind. If my life was easy, would I be even more arrogant, insensitive, etc? Many of the things I am dealing with in my life are the result of actions I and other people in my life made long ago. If I can make better decisions, I can have a positive impact on others and myself. So I hope everything happens for a reason..... |
