Thanks for the link! Now I read it, my take on it is that the inventor of "brain spotting" does not understand how the brain and subconscious works. Still it is worth tryingif it is not too expensive! As long as you don't expect miracles! |

EMDR was helpful for me...brainspotting sounds like EMDR light, sort of.

I'm glad EMDR helped you. Generally if youbelive something does you good and makes you happier, it is good to have it! The problem is that REM: rapid eye movement is observed, but not yet understood! REM is simply an indication that some external or internal disturbance intruded into the sleep and the subconscious created the dreams to respond to it. Rapid eye movement is actually watching a dream unfolding in very fast time. In the case of post traumatic stress disorder, the thoughts of the cause and the memory of it intruded into sleep and the subconscious responded by creating a dream to divert the attention from it. It is actually the subconscious and the dream it creates that helps the healing. It is a slow process and opening up about it is always helpful. |

I read some about it, but I'm thinking of asking my T about it. It must be new I also saw some ads online and the people charge a lot. I would try it with my T. I'm no good at explaining things so this way I wouldn't have to try and explain it's hard to explain my emotions.

I've done a part of a brainspotting session. Overwhelming at first, but I see how it can actually work. Much less traumatizing in comparison with EMDR and other techniques. I say give it a shot. Honestly, I've only seen good aspects come from it with other patients who've done it. A woman had nightmares every night for twelve years, slept like a baby after two sessions. I'm envious but can't continue my own brainspotting until my bipolar is stabilized.
