When I started my job a year ago, I thought it was awesome. I loved my hours, and I liked most of my coworkers. My boss and I got along great. We had a very good work relationship.

Something changed a few months ago. My boss is not as friendly towards me, but his attitude towards everyone else is the same. I'm bending over backwards trying to come in every time he asks me. Sometimes my whole week can get messed up in a couple of texts. I'm working constantly. My boss seems more frustrated by me. He has a tone most of the time he talks to me. He also is playing favorites with one of my coworkers. I have to go clean up the store, while he is in the back working with just him. I'm not sure what I did. He says nothing is wrong, but today, he wouldn't even look me in the eye.

What really hurt, is his wife got him flowers and chocolate. He made me go out and clean the store, and when I went back, he and my coworker were sitting in his office laughing. My boss pretty much ignored me, but when one of my other coworkers came up behind me, he excitedly told her about the flowers and chocolates he received. Then, we all went up to do something, and my coworker was talking very loudly to my boss about the chocolate they had just been eating. She did not offer me any.

I'm a good worker. I do my work very well. I come in whenever he asks me too. I do whatever he tells me to do. I don't know why his attitude has changed so drastically towards me. I'm very confused and hurt. I don't want to leave the job, because my coworkers are ok, and management is fine, the work is good, and the job pays well. I just don't know how to deal with my boss. It's tearing me apart. I'm pretty sure I was mentally/emotionally abused at a treatment center I went too, and my current situation just is opening old wounds

Does anyone have any advice?

It sounds stressful. I can relate. My boss has been horrible the last few weeks. Unfortunately, I have no advice, but just wanted to give you some support.

You are a victim of an immature work environment, gossip, and favoritism. This is quite common in the work place. Gossip seems to be the big problem where you are working. There is not much you can do to change this. You might want to start shopping around for another job. Otherwise you are going to just have to cope with this immaturity. This has nothing to do with you personally.

I've been in an unfavorable work environment, too. Like Thunder said, it is unlikely to improve. Your best recourse is to go somewhere else. Hope it works out for you.
