I've had two sessions both if which were a but odd! In my initial assessment I was asked to go through my life and talk.about upsetting situations. I've had plenty but don't think about them these days. I was very down before that session as I'm going through the menopause and also had awful PMT so I was tearful. The first real session I was asked to think of a safe place (I'm hopeless at visuslisation) and started to become more anxious as didn't know what to expect. Instead of moving something in front of my eyes she used buzzers in the hand. I found this odd and ended up having an anxiety attack.. The rest of the hour we did a relaxation session. The second session she asked me to this of three people who embody nurturing and then protection. I then had to think about what the qualities were and she tapped the outside of my knees. I was just thinking what is she doing!!! She then said she felt I was not being responsive to treatment and that I had all these past traumas. I asked her which and she said the ones that clearly upset me at the first session. She used the death of my grandad 30 years ago as an example as I was obviously traumatised because I couldn't remember who told me when he died and where I was. I feel like she's trying to unearth all these things that don't affect me on a daily basis. Or is this what EMDR Is??? I went initially to discuss anxiety around taking meds following a panic attack swallowing a tablet a couple of years ago. Anyone had any experiences of this therapy?
