I've been trying to find a decent self-help book for ages, but all that I see are ones aimed at white straight people. The few that are aimed at, or are relevant to black people/People of Colour are very U.S - centric and have very little relevance to black folk living elsewhere. I'm black, bisexual & british. I'd like to read something that doesn't erase my existence (I've read some terrible Self-help books that assume people like me don't even exist). So does anyone have any recommendations? Doesn't even have to be a book - a blog/vlog would be useful too.

For the creative in yourself "Touched by Fire" by Kay Redfield Jamison is a book which scientifically and historically proves that most extreme creativity comes from the mentally ill. Being an artist, web designer, DJ and most recently a producer, was fascinating to me.

I'm not sure this is a book relevant to exactly what you want but "Psycho-Cybernetics" is by far the best self-help book I've ever read, it's like THE bible of all self-help books. The only thing that bothered me was that when the author talked about people in general he would always refer to them with the pronoun "he" or "him". But I solved that problem by taking out my black pencil and writing an S before every he hehe. Anyway, check it out, maybe you'll still like it.
Thanks for this!

This isn't a self-help book, but it's a memoir you might find quite terrific and affirming. The title is Darling Days, and the author is Io Tillett Wright.
