Anyone know? I just watched a Kati Morton video on Existential Crisis, had never heard of it before. Here's the link if you want to watch it.

Interesting video! I would say an existential crisis is akin to having a breakdown, a trigger such as loss, bringing on feelings of why bother, why are we here, what's the point etc. That feeling can lead to lack of self care, depression or even psychosis. So to answer your question, having an existential crisis could lead to passive SI.
