This hospital I went to when I was a kid thought everyone had eating disorders. And if something didn’t seem right they’d send them right over to that unit. I was threatened as well just because I didn’t have a large appetite.

And the kids were always like: you have to eat or else they think you have an ED.

I was filling out some paperwork for something else associated with the place, and more then half of it was on nutrition. They asked everything including how often I go out to eat and other questions about my eating habits.

I have never seen or heard of any place being so particular about eating disorders and even regularly accusing people of having one when they don’t.

Does anyone know why this place would do that?

Hmm. I can't say that I have had that experience anywhere. But then, I've never had an eating disorder, so maybe I wasn't particularly sensitive to the issue. And maybe the place specialized in eating disorders.

I’m just worried they are going to assume I have issues when I don’t.

I eat small meals and I can go hours without eating. sometimes up to 18 hours. It’s difficult for me to eat when I am not hungry, and I can never force myself to eat.

I don’t feel like I have an eating disorder. I’m just worried they might think I have an issue because I lost 76 pounds and I have particular eating habits.

And I drink slim fast when I probably shouldn’t be.

Both my physician and my current therapist know about the slim fast, and have not said anything.

It’s probably best not to tell them.

It is DEFINITELY best to be open and honest with your treatment team.

I know when I was depressed I lost around 40 pounds- it wasnt deliberate really (though I will admit losing the weight kind of did make me happy- I mean, just because it felt like I guess SOMETHING good that was happening in the midst of all the bad)- so I DO understand losing weight because you jusr dont have the energy, care, or really- capability of taking good care of stuff like that.

But dude, you sound like... it doesnt sound good. If people were to start being concerned about how much weight you have lost- and start getting concerned about the slim fast- would that be a bad thing? Probably not. Those things dont sound healthy... and your health really IS important.

Be honest with your treatment team. Please. Its really for your own benefit that you are. It might be scary- but if you are honest, you can maybe have a discussion with them and figure out what is going on. Its never good to hide things from people who are trting to help you... so please dont. Do it for yourself. Be honest. And talk to them
Thanks for this!

Hi Boz, I think UNDER*Over has made some good points about your health. I agree that it's very important to be honest and upfront with your psych team.

Not eating for 18 hours doesn’t sound healthy. 76 pounds might be ok if you were very big otherwise it is a ton of weight to lose.

He did seem kind of focused on the weight. I was 236 pounds. So 76 put me pretty much at an average weight.
