Hi all, I'm new here so not sure if this belongs here, if not sorry
I will try to describe it shortly. Throughout the day I forget things I have done and that I should do, for example: I contact client about some issue on the start of the day, later on if I get asked, if I have contacted such client, I wont remember, maybe after 10 minutes the thought pops up in my head. (unless I try and quickly search for the info if I did contact that person) or let's say that I have lived in one city for quite a long time and someone asks me the name of it, I won't remember. These kinds of stuff are really embarrassing (not to mention not remembering what people told me, and asking the same questions later over again) I'm only 25 yrs old, do you think this might be some sort of Alzheimer's? My guess is PTSD, making my hippocampus not function properly. I have diagnosed with PTSD myself though, my DR says it's not that because I don't get flashbacks and panic attacks. So I'm not sure.. I'm taking SSNRIs, nootropics, ginkgo, and a bunch of vitamins. I know this is probably hard to guess just like this, but I still would be kind for any kind of advice, what to try or which direction to head. |

Hi SleepyWxz. Welcome to Psych Central. Sorry you have memory issues.
A doctor sounds like a good place to go and maybe your pharmacist to ask if any meds or supplements could lead to that. I also found with myself when I do not sleep enough or am on high carb diet my brain function goes down significantly. Getting extra sleep and being on low carb high protein diet have helped me. But seeing a doctor first sounds like a good idea.

Thank you. I haven't tried low carb diet yet... although our doctors are not the best I will keep trying different ones.

It could be anxiety or the focus of your mental energy is in a complete opposite direction of whatever it is that you are being asked?
As far as work, try keeping a notebook or notepad next to you to log info to refer back to. Though in life it would seem that one would recall calling someone at 9, but if asked by the afternoon, so much can take place during those seemingly short hours and it's already old information in a way. |

I also use my phone calendar to give me reminders to any things I need to do. That way I get an audio notification 20-30 minutes ahead of time.
Before trying any new diets or anything it is good to check with your doctor if you are already on a special diet.
