I had an experience where I was blacked out apprently and I took a taxi to a local town and back but all the while I was hallucinating that I was at a friends birthday party at their house. I hallucinated that we watched movies ate cake and all that. But I was really taking a taxi to oceanside. I read that blackouts are when the brain loses it's ability to form new memories, but I remember the halluicnations perfectly I just dont remember taking a taxi to and from the other city. Can some one please help me understand this or share recent experices.I have a lot of nightmares and since I havent found a reasonable explanation for this I wonder if other frightening hallucinations wer really real and not hallucinations since i cant find an explanation for this Please help

Hello just1: I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I'm sorry I'm not able to offer anything in the way of an explanation for what you experienced. Hopefully some other members, here on PC, who are more knowledgeable than I will yet reply to your post.

What this sounds like to me is something that might possibly fall under the heading of dissociative disorders. There's a forum, here on PC, dedicated to this topic. Here's a link:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/dissociative-disorders/

The other forum that may be applicable, I suppose, would be the psychosis forum:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/schi...and-psychosis/

Here's a link to an article, from PsychCentral's archives, that offers definitions for the terms psychosis, hallucinations & delusions:

Definitions of Psychosis, Hallucinations, and Delusions | Bipolar Beat

And then here are links to 3 articles on dissociative disorders:

In-Depth: Understanding Dissociative Disorders

Dissociative Disorder: 8 Common Signs | Relationship Corner

I hope you find PC to be of benefit.

I cant help you understand what happened to you but I can give you information on what things are here in my own location.....

my treatment providers call a black out when there is absolutely no memory of anything.... example an alcoholic will drink but have absolutely no memory of going home, getting into a fight, not even any thoughts, it is totally blacked out (blanked out)

my treatment providers call a hallucination when I am seeing, hearing, tasting anything that can not possibly be real.... example hearing a bell when there is no actual bell being rung, having the taste of turnips in my mouth when I have not eaten turnips, seeing aliens when there is no actual alien standing there in front of me.

my suggestion is if this continues to bother you contact yours or a treatment provider in your off computer location, they will be able to diagnose what this problem is in you. and get you treated for it.
