I'm interested in seeing a therapist who only takes credit cards. I'm concerned that this would mean that credit reporting agencies would know I'm in therapy and my score would take a hit.

Does anyone know whether my concerns are well-founded?

Thanks.

I guess that could happen, but why would that be a problem to you?

Actually they don't look at individual items on a CC. They just look at the card & "how much" is owed not WHAT it is owed on.

Yiu only get that on single item purchases like a car or a house. I have been monitoring my CR & my Ex's while he let the house my name was on the mortgage go into foreclosure. I have a few lines of credit I keep paid off monthly. Nothibg was itemized on them

They wouldn't even notice. All that is cared about is your capacity and responsibility to pay off debt.

I am more interested in knowing why you would prefer to use a credit card in the first place. You do realise it is more expensive in the long run? A credit card should never be used as an excuse to pay for something you can't presently afford. Just saying.

Thanks. It's not my preference, rather how the therapist accepts payment. It would certainly be paid off immediately.

I pay off ALL my credit card balances monthly. I actually had a problem with a new debit/cr card when my bank changed over to a new bank ownership. I pay all my bills online & couldn't get the dr/cr card to work so I had to give my cr card I use for monthly expenses (food, gas, misc needs). Screwed me up but it still gets paid monthly.

Sometimes some companies will pass on the Cr Card expense they pay the CC company which does make things cost more even if you pay it off monthly avoiding intetest charges

The credit card companies do not care about what you are using the credit for. They only care that they get their money back at the end of the day.

IDK, (and think so sad that we would all need to be concerned about that sort of thing), but Im writing just to suggest, have your considered getting a pre-paid credit card?
I believe they do NOT link to anything (social security number, address, etc,),
so you would never be identifiable.

Here is info on the VISA type prepaid card:

Great to hear this. I guess I jumped to the incorrect conclusion. I had never thought of this scenario.

Is therapy that kind expensive?

If you're that paranoid, get a debit card. Something like a prepaid card with a set amount of money on it every month only for therapy and nothing else. Most places use the term "credit card" generically when they mean any credit/debit card.

Another option would be seeing if they accept online payments. If so, see if your credit card issuer has a service to give a virtual card with a different card number. I know Capitol One has a such service and I use it regularly.
