My biggest trigger is seeing people not be treated equally. I get incredibly riled up by racism, religious intolerance, homophobia and pretty much any situation where someone is being treated disrespectfully for a difference they have - visible or invisible. I cry all the time when I witness such things and with the present political climate that seems to have made such behaviour permissible on account of a certain Cheeto's own example this happens more and more often. It scares me where we are headed and each time such situations and events arise I am triggered quite badly.

I have had trauma in my life particularly from my time in the Navy. Add continuous harassment to that and I pretty much get triggered by any man who fits the 'bill' by demeanor, physicality, and appearance. I feel threatened, vulnerable, scared of any ulterior motive they might have against me, nausea, and a need to be hyper-vigilant around them on account of my uber-fear they might turn on me.

So many people are feeling like you feel. I do. Afraid...seriously scared.

What triggers me...Last night I was at a gathering of volunteers I used to work with (a mental health organization). Everyone was so friendly. The conversation turned to people hearing voices (as in psychosis or dissociative disorders). Then there was a friendly debate about whether voices should be "treated" with meds or some other method, how some cultures accept voices, and so on.

I was seated with a wall to my back, behind a table, and with people to both sides of me. There was no way out. I was sitting there battling voices in my own mind and I was trying to fake listening while trying not to start screaming, I HAVE TO GET OUT! MOVE!!!

So yeah. That was very triggering for me. I'd make a list, but I'd probably get into trouble with the mods if I did that

There are so many things that trigger me but one thing that really triggers me (perhaps I'm not using the word right?) is people who run away from a problem they've caused. For example,a former friend of mine and I got into a heated debate in which he was being a hypocrite. Basically he was saying mental health for a certain population would never get better but I am currently going through it and noticing changes within my community. But he said he was 100% certain and wouldn't give any backup reasons why. I started getting emotional and tearing up,he started laughing,he started getting more quiet and realized what he said. And instead of trying to deal with it,he hung up the call halfway through me talking about how he was being a hypocrite by saying

You're going to have a losing argument about x because you're not x
But then I give my opinion about y and he says no that's never happening I know 100% but he's not y,you know. I don't want to get into too specific of details because it's been months now.

TL;DR What triggers me is when people know they may have said something wrong, caused someone to cry,and run away instead of trying to work things out.

The only thing I am downright triggered by is Chick Fi La. The things they believe in and the organizations they give money to are disgusting and I have never given my money to that place or eaten there and I never will.

Oh.. a few things.

I hate to be cynical. However, there have been occasions when some have intentionally used my triggers against me. (Not anyone here)

I guess I have most of the “usual” triggers that many have

Respect to all

It’s people who say they love me, but act unloving and cruel. It was immensely triggering because it shocked me, but now I’ve had it happen many times and have come to expect it and not be surprised.

My worst trigger is violence on television, so I avoid the news especially where reported are people dying. I just can't tolerate foul laguage either. Mostly I enjoy listening to the radio. With it on in the baclground I can be knitting or reading. Or just sitting watching the sea outside our lounge window.

Social injustice. Sometimes I need to turn the news off to calm myself. Family argument also could get me very sick, I feel my head heated up and my heart racing, a lot of yelling and slamming...
