I give up.... I’m not being listened to by doctors... ive been made to feel extremely uncomfortable....and every other psych just wants to make a buck off of me or ignore me completely....I’m trying to get genuine help and support but it seems like no one actually cares. They just care about getting you in and out and making their wallet fatter...Ive called several offices, sent a ton of emails hoping to set up consultations, appointments, etc and I’m either ignored or given some astronomical quote for a consult. How am I supposed to get better when I’m constantly being ignored or taken advantage of?.... I hate this.. and I’m done trying...:’(

I take it you are in the United States? The fact that we are virtually the only country in the world that doesn't get that healthcare is a human right is beyond my comprehension. If you do happen to live in Europe though you are not exactly in the clear since austerity meant cuts to the budgets of National Health Services in many countries including for mental health care. I guess all I'm trying to say is you are not alone and please keep trying.

Yes, I’m in the United States. I’m usually quoted $200-$400 for appointments 20-50min and evaluations anywhere from $250-$1500.... many of these places don’t accept insurance. Thats not counting the followups and what not :/ |

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your difficult experiences. You should utilize the PsychologyToday “find a therapist.” It will show you who accepts your insurance nearby.
Good luck. Andrew |

You can still get the help you need but you have to think outside the box. Since finances are the issue, you need to contact walk in clinics that offer sliding fee scales.
There are many many walk in counseling places in every city in every state in the US that help low income people. But you have to be willing to do the research to find those places. Start with your county website. Or call 211. They should also be listed by neighborhood. The walk in counseling place that I use, has virtual counseling sessions via Zoom with grad students and sometimes licensed social workers. Do you have health insurance? If you have health insurance then your therapy sessions in network are covered by your insurance. Don’t go out of network. Find a therapist in network. |

I do not live in the USA. I completely relate to it being extremely... difficult.. to find a professional who listens or wants to help. I posted this on another forum and someone replied telling me to ........... this is similar to what the professionals tell me. (basically .....
![]() I hope you find a good professional, they are out there somewhere.

What exactly is not being heard when you present yourself?
