She seems kinda trashy for a doctor. Like she knows what she’s talking about but her bedside manner is just kinda off. I wanted to see her because she works with people with autism and I thought she’d be cool about the whole trans thing. Which she was. My mom asked to wait outside and she told her she had to wait in the waiting room because of Covid. So my mom said something to me and then went out. The doctor said she’d get her when we were done. Then the doc said to me “drama huh?” And I thought what’s that supposed to mean? The exam went well enough but she left the room twice to get stuff. And maybe I’m just having an existential crisis but I just felt weird. Then she called on the way home and wanted to set up a couple more exams so we could possibly get a hysterectomy in. So she does wants to work with me. What is my problem why am I so paranoid about these doctors all of a sudden?

As long as she knows her stuff, I’d give her a chance. Some people are just weird. It is what it is. Both my ob/gyn and GP are weird. Somebody probably thinks I am weird. I do weird stuff. Like do dance moves or sing off key in public. Yeah. Give her a chance

That’s exactly what my mom said. I think I just don’t feel good tonight and am projecting.

That’s perfectly fine to question things. And we are more sensitive when we don’t feel good.

You may want to switch Doctors. She does seem a bit weird. Go with your gut feelings about her.

What was it about her that you felt weird about?
I am curious, was it the "drama, huh" comment? I'd feel weird about that too. At the same time, what were you and your mom talking about? Did she maybe get a vibe from your Mom? You have said before that your mother can be rude seeming. |

It was just the bedside manner in general. She just seemed unprofessional for a doctor just a loud talker and very outgoing and I’m just not used to the doctors like that. I usually see doctors who are very friendly but in a quiet way and match how I am responding to them.
And yeah the whole “drama” comment was weird. While I don’t mind other people calling my mom out on it doctors just don’t seem like the right people to be calling it out. My mom and I were just confused about where she should wait. And she couldn’t wait outside the office because of Covid. So the doctor told her she’d get her. Then closed the door and said the comment to me. My mom likes her though (I didn’t tell her about what the doc had said) because the doctor called back herself and asked questions about my medical history and asked about what I had and hadn’t had done and what should be done and she was very helpful with giving us info on how to get a surgery covered at the hospital that originally wasn’t going to be able to do it for ethically reasons. So I guess I’ll stick with her but bedside manner is huge to me. But I look like a dude and I also need gynecological work done so I know I need to also be understanding that they may be kind of taken aback from me.

Sometimes I am put off by certain personalities too. Especially when I'm not expecting it. What you wrote was insightful into yourself and the situation
