Can you be codependent on your therapist? Like just really needy with them and wanting their attention then after awhile it kinda backfires on you because they get frustrated with you?
Or am I using the term codependent wrong and it has nothing to do with someone being needy and clingy towards someone else but it’s more of a caretaking thing?

i am not sure if that is the right term to use in this situation, but that can definitely happen. In cases like this i feel like it's best to be open about it with your therapist so that you can work on it together. Part of therapy is learning how to manage things by yourself and you're most likely not alone in what you're experiencing. I believe codependent was an early term for partner of an alcoholic. I do believe a codependent relationship can happen between any two individuals but I would be mindful with the use of the term because it was once associated negatively within domestic relationships.

Codependency is mostly lean and support. Do you feel that way with your therapist?

I would imagine that whatever the word for it is, it must be pretty common in a relationship between a therapist and client.
