Some people at work have been annoyed with me because I think that I say obvious things. Just silly things like boy it’s hot out today. Or someone was looking for a coworker and I said I think she’s at lunch which made people mad. Some people and I were driving on a gravel road and I just said offhand that the road was rough which elicited sarcastic responses from people. I just don’t know what to do, I feel both angry and frustrated with myself and also others. I’m starting to not like my job or anyone who works there.

Your writing doesn't sound off to me. If you are stating something that would be an obvious fact, I don't see a problem with it. If we were driving on a gravel road and you told me this ride was rough, I would say, 'It surely is.' Or something to that effect. I would not like that either, nor would I tolerate it. I most certainly understand your anger and frustration with that happening. People should not be that way.

Sounds like you're being too self aware. You're wanting to strike up a conversation, so go with whatever hits you. But don't lean on every nuance of reactions as if you're looking for those around you to grade what you say. Conversations have a life of their own so just go with the flow. The only time to check the temperature in the room is if the mood does not justify a conversation. Some people are not morning folks and others are. So know your company as best you can and join in if a conversation is in play. Be confident!
