So...where to start. I don't know if everyone heard about this crazy storm in the midwest called a Derecho. It's basically an inland hurricane. Well, I live in southern IL and was driving at the time so my boyfriend and I thought we'd pull over and wait out the storm. By the time we parked the car winds were up to 106 mph and we couldn't get out. So we sat there for a good 20 minutes while this storm picked us up and set us back down (we ended up about 1.5 feet ahead of where we started....in the bushes). So I came back to Dayton (my hometown) because they said power would be out for about 5-10 days. There is a tree laying on top of my apartment and siding and roofs are ripped off of houses. My car is totally demolished and totaled from about 50 baseball-sized hail dents and shingles being blown into it. Ugh.

But there is some good to come out of it. When I bought my car I had about $5000 negative equity on my trade-in (which was a piece of crap) so my loan is actually about 8000 more than the worth of my car. And, since I bought the gap insurance, theyre going to pay off the entire loan and let me start over so my car payment will be cut in half. Woohoo!

My car is worth about 8500 and there is about 8100 worth of damage. Yikes! Looks pretty ghetto lol. Well, anyways.....I guess just telling my story. I honestly thought I was going to die that day and am extremely thankful that I'm even here to type this. I thought for sure one of the roofs being ripped off was going to come through my windshield but, somehow, we made it through (and even got some good out of it).

So, for anyone else who is dealing with this horrific storm damage right now, I'm thinking of you!
