Please? someone guide me to a list of the abbreviations used here. I have been looking so I can know what you are talking about but I am too stupid to find it.
Please show a stupid old man where to look? Please? Then I won't bother you again for a while. Promise.

well some basics...

T = therapist
Pdoc = psychiatrist
lol = laughing out loud
ty = thank you
tx = thanks
yw = your welcome
btw = by the way

then there are abbreviations for e.g.

DID = dissociative identity disorder
DD = dissociative disorder
AD = anxiety disorder
BPD = borderline personality disorder
PTSD = post traumatic stress disorder
... there are a lot more but its probably best to research the disorders by reading here in the forums yourself and figuring things out from there.

then a lot of the younger people have a whole language of abbreviations and totally different words that totally baffle me too!

the best advice i have really is just ask! people rarely if ever take offence at honest questions when someone doesnt understand. and as catherine says, if you have specific queries you can post here and im sure someone will be able to explain.

good luck and welcome to PC. oh and also well done for having the courage to try out something new and not being afraid to start this thread in the first place!

biiv
Thanks for this!

Hi....

A couple more for you....

Dx: Diagnosis
ROTFLMAO: Rolling on the floor, laughing my *** off.
IMO/IMHO: In my opinion/In my honest opinion
BRB: Be right back
OMG: Oh my God/Oh my Godess

If I think of any more, I'll post 'em here! You'll learn the lingo...and definitely don't be nervous about asking. That's how I learned some of it, and every time I asked people were very nice about sharing with me!!

Take care!!

Hi randj and welcome to PC!

Everyone here is really great at helping. Thi is a pretty complicated site. I left for about 8 months and came back using a screenreader, and the whole layout had changed. Ack! Hehe, but everyone was really great about helping, so just ask away. I was confused, I thought you were looking for something specific. Don't know how they figured out that you were looking for abbreviations haha. Guess I missed something.

Hope you enjoy PC!

Hugs,
Rayna
