I'm really rather grrrr about Hollywood cashing in on this 2012 Mayan Calender end thing. At the Harry Potter movie, there was a preview for a movie "2012" where the world ends in the absolute worst chaos and destruction. Thanks Hollywood for fear-mongering.

At school the kids have already been telling me they think the world's ending - I remind them that people have been saying that for 2000 years.

Methinks us lightworkers are going to have to unite to get the world through this one. How can we possibly have a leap in consciousness when Hollywood makes a frigging movie about the end of the world? Not that this is new for Hollywood by any means.... but to make it about that upcoming date where people already think it is the end of the world. As if we really needed more fear.

Fast on fear and feast on faith (whatever that faith is to you, by whatever name). For me it is KNOWING that humanity can surpass this by believing in something higher and better.

hi kiya, i havent been able to get here much lately and i was just reading the forums for the first time in awhile when i saw your post.. i completely agree, there are so many crackpot theories going around and people need to realize that it is themselves who turn the wheel and do the steering in this world.. good everyday people CAN make the world a better place for themselves and others simply by thinking good thoughts and being a littler kinder and gentler towards one another, practicing hope and faith and basic decent manners... good for you in having the good spirit to speak up!...

I remember everyone saying the same thing when we were going from 1999 to 2000 so I really dont think there is any truth in it.

Precisely! Thanks! Also speaking out when we see injustice and stepping up to take on the mantle of peace and non-violence. This, now more than ever is to "be the change we want to see in the world" - Gandhi.

I happen to think it is a lot of sensationalism actually.

Yes, the Mayan Calendar may end in 2012, but I have done some personal research into Astrology....(not hokey Astrology...LOL!!), but Astrology as a branch of science. Right now we are in the Age of Pisces which, if you look at the Zodiac, is represented by two fish. It is interesting that there are a lot of references to the fish symbol throughout multiple religions.

In Astrology, it seems that around the year 2012 we will be moving out of the Age of Pisces and into the Age of Aquarius....represented by a man pouring water from a jug. This symbol is also referred to throughout multiple religions.

I wonder if this moving on into a different age may have something to do with the reason that the Mayan Calendar stops? Maybe the Mayans just decided to stop at the end of Pisces? Maybe they could not fathom life continuing far enough, all the way into a new Age. I guess it truly is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius afterall!!

Age of Aquarius.....Age of Aquarius.....AQUARIUS!!!! A-QUAR-I-US!!!!

Ooopss!!!! Sorry...kind of got off track there!!!!

yes, i agree... and i have studied a lot of things too, one of which says we are already in the age of aquaris (one other said it it coming up, and a third said it had no idea, lol. Who knows. But i think that if we as a global community participate in the fear mongering, we will create that. whereas if we consciously participate in creating the life and world we *want* to live in, we will be far better off.

I agree with all of you. If we stopped going to these kind of movies and asked for better ones the movie makers would have to make what we all wanted to see.
I really do not like they are pushing the fear factor.
Age of aquaries .........humm.....I like it...

i feel like writing Hollywood a "shame on you" letter!!!!! but how childish is that.
Maybe i can write it a bit more dignified than that. Not that it will stop them from airing it. But.... ah i dunno.

I think it would be an interesting study for someone truly wondering.
Though some say the Nostradamus was Christian, there is an accounting from the Bible that leads Christians to believe that there will be changes in the year 2012. (However, not the end of the world, rather the end of the age.)
The OT texts that the Israeli people use also point to the end of the seven years coming in 2012. As well as muslim texts which also talk about the end of something in 2012.

The mayan calendar isn't the only great text in the world that points to something huge coming about to the world in December 2012.
As I said, it's truly an interesting study, since many of these texts date thousands of years ago....and show things that were prophetic to them then, but which have already occurred.

However, I do not believe the world will ever end, because my faith teaches that God said it wouldn't.

Yes, I have seen that many, many sacred writings refer to this time. From what I understand, it is mean to be a "change of consciousness" or jump. But that certainly won't be the case if people en masse propegate fear. Consciousness leaps cannot grow in fear.
Thanks.

I agree Kiya and I have a suggestion, when "2012" comes out, protest it by renting out a copy of "Pay it Forward" and watching that one instead. "Pay it Forward" is a wonderful movie staring Kevin Spacey about a kid who starts a campaign of kindness by doing good things for people and then asking them to simply do something good for someone else in return.
Thanks for this!

Thanks Muffy - i know that to be true, and it is hard to believe... it can be so overwhelming.

Ooooh Tim - i LIKE it! You know - maybe I'll host a party that opening night and rent that movie and a bunch of other inspirational movies. I wonder if i can get a place to donate space for such an event... thanks for that suggestion!!
Hey! Let's all do it!! (or watch singually for those who are not up to large groups)
Let's start a list of other such movies with great messages, and really boost the counter effect!!!!

really? well, i'll believe it when i see it...
i think its just another "end of the world" mistake like that one think when the world was gonna end in 2000 cuz of the computers
we'll just have to wait, and if the world ends, the world ends!
its that simple. really.

I posted on Face Book too =) starting a movement here lol
reminds me of that movie "The Secret" (about positive thoughts vs. negative) where they quoted Mother Teresa as saying "I won't go to an Anti-War rally - but you have a Peace Rally, invite me!" The point being that violence can't be "fought" with violence or fear "fought" with fear - it is still fighting. So if you are anti-something, be pro-its opposite.
I am pro-consciousness leap =)

hi. I think Dec. 21, 2012 is definatley over-rated. I think the reason the Mayan Calender stops there is because they died before it was finished. People think there's going to be some God awful catastrophy. You know earthquakes, hurricanes and solar flares. All due to the shifting magnetic poles. But we have had that before and nothing happened. Just like the solar flares. We have them alot too. But the most they ever do is cause mass blackouts. Don't you just love the way Hollywood cashes in on peoples fears

its just a movie... Can't blame Hollywood for trying to make money of a theme that keeps people busy. No sane human will think that the world really will end in 2012 because hollywood made a movie about it. But thats just mho...

Blue - people already had that assumption (much like in 2000). But I personally think it is rotten to "cash in on people's fears", just like thunderbear said.
I don't think the world is ending.
But I do think that if there is a large group of people who already DOES believe that, AND there is a large group going to see this movie... it increases the negative energy that is already in the world - and what we do know is that thoughts have power and create. We've already enough chaos in the world - we don't need more, no matter its form.
So - I want to counter that effect. =) You want to also?
