Kissing? Seriously, which humans looked at each other one day and said "lets mash our mouths together and swoosh our tounges around, that would be HOT".
What other normal things do YOU wonder who invented them and why. Another example - who looked at a plant one day and said "Gee, i should smoke this. Im not sure why, but i bet it would be fun".. Or also who looked at a cow and said " I should squeeze those things hanging down, and drink the milk that comes out of them. Bet it would be tasty" ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() __________________ LOL - thank God they knew that the liquid coming out of those things is edible and not the pee from cow being edible ![]() I wonder who thought the disgusting looking egg was edible.

I have always been intrigued when eating meals by wondering who were the first people to decide that a particular food was edible or nutritious and not poisonous? I would not have wanted to be the official food taster of a king or queen!!!!

Who decided a "dog" was a "dog", instead of a "lamp"?

Wasn't it the observations of animals and what they ate that clued the human in on what was safe to eat?
What intregues me is the inventions that humans have created which far exceeds that of the abilities of the animals, despite the fact that it WAS the animal that has taught us the lessons of safe eating,...or so it seems to make sense, anyway. Fire, is one invention that the human was aware enough of to master for utilizing. (Lol...Makes me think of that one movie, "Quest for Fire", back in the late 80's....lol. Such dialog...lmao). The wheel. Makes me wonder....What really was going through that mind who invented it. Was it discovered by chance, or intetntionally cuz he got sick of draggin everything....lol. Plastic surgery...Who even thought of that..?? What I think is one of the most fascinating (and mind boggling) creations is that of electronics, the microchip, how a computer can perform on such command and at such extremeties....amazing. Shame though, that, even though the human is the most intellegent, we most definately fall at the bottom of the list for being the wisest. List goes on and on. I love that one TV show, "How It's Made". Too cool. Fun thread. Shangrala ![]()

I wonder how food became what it is today.
Who came up with the idea to grab this, that, this, add a few chemicals, few additives, few coloring potions, add some things taken from something else..mesh it all together a few different ways and create a new "food". You can't find certain whole fruits at certain times of the year..but you can find the juice, fruit flavored candy, fruit flavored cereal... fruit flavored milk... etc. Why can't I just have a pint of strawberries. |

Well, I wonder who invented the modern day toilet instead of a hole in the ground.

Your sentence reminded me of how ethic groups use spices in ways we're not familiar with. Here in North America we think of cinnamon to be used in deserts.Well the middle eastern culture uses cinnamon and allspice in main meat dishes and now I do the same. I never would have thought to use cinnamon that way. Theres another middle eastern dish made with the green garlic tops chopped and sauteed, then eggs are added and the whole thing is scrambled. When it's done you cut a lemon in half and squeeze it over the whole thing and eat with pita bread. Who would think of mixing eggs with lemons but I honestly can't eat it, without lemons now. ![]()

That was supposedly invented by Thomas Crapper. Seriously. Do a google search on his name. He is usually credited with that invention although John Harrington is also said to be the inventor. But that does give us the two names for the object- the john and the crapper.
