The past few days I have had a consistent, dull pain in the middle joint of my pinky finger. I have tried stretching it, popping it. Nothing helps. It doesn't hurt extremely bad, it's just kind of.....there. But it won't go away. And usually I would attribute it to the weather but none of my other joints are hurting like this. Any idea?

Have you done something a lot lately that uses that finger? Maybe it is fatigue from repetitive motion or use?

Does an anti-inflammatory like Alleve or Ibuprphen make it feel better?

I thought that maybe it was from driving because my bf and I just drove to Arkansas and back and I thought maybe I was holding the steering wheel funny but we have been home for 2 days and the pain is still there. I haven't found anything that makes it feel better other than just holding it in a certain position. It doesn't matter if it's straight or bent, just if I keep it a certain way it stops. Like it only hurts when I move it. It's a little swollen but not too bad and there isn't a rash or anything else. I don't have a fever.

I do have Lyme disease but usually when that flares up its in my knees and elbows, not just one finger. My mom has RA and Lupus but I just had a CBC the other day when I went to the doc and they said everything looked normal. I don't know if thats what they do to test for lupus or not though. I just don't know when to take my concerns to a doc or if it's just something to walk off? It started on Wednesday.

take it to a doc, it's so vital to take care of yourself (rather be safer than sorry)
it's happened to me before, but it usually just goes away soon by resting it. cracking it doesn't help much, (although you kinda think it would...)
but if it's happened since wed, i think it's a good idea to see a doc. that's a rather long time.

hmm. maybe you could put a warm compress on it? try that? maybe it's relax the muscles and it'll feel a little better.

take care, keep us posted.

Well I just went to the gym and worked out for about an hour and the pain has gone away. This makes me think that maybe it was from my spinal stenosis? I found out last year that I have some slight narrowing in my cervical spine that my doctor said might pinch my nerves sometimes. I just expected that to mean the typical shooting pain down my arm which I didn't have this time. So I worked out my back and neck and now the pain has subsided for the moment. If it comes back though I will go to the doc.
