George Carlin - Brilliant and hilarious, easily my favorite comedian of all time. He makes you think, then laugh, then feel stupid, think some more, and finally understand it. Then laugh some more.
Carl Sagan - Superb mind that has helped spark my insatiable drive for knowledge of our universe.
Bill Murray - I think I'd die of laughter with Bill and George at the same table, but it would be a pleasant demise.
My Grandfather - He passed away before I was born, but the stories people told me of him painted a larger than life man, beloved by his community. His funeral packed his church so full people were lining up outside to pay their respects. Even though I never met him, I try to live my life the way he lived his.

Someone no one knows, just because I would like to.

Paula Deen, because she would be so fun .. and maybe we would dine at Lady & Sons

Richard Simmons, because I love how he cares about people and he's also fun

Joni Mitchell, because I adore her

My grandfather, he died when I was 6 I didn't really know him, but he was in the war, and I am interested to hear his stories and to know what it was like

My dad's dad, he was also in the war, and from the stories I heard he was a great father and a funny man

My cousin Christine (that died) I never really knew her but she sounded like a GREAT person

God,I want to thank him for EVERYTHING.

I know this is five, but George Bush. I want to congratulate him for helping this country out, even though half the people I know hate him.

Roger Waters, Johnny Cash, Billie Holiday, Peter Steele.

Why? :3

Roger Waters- very very outspoken, intelligent, great lyricist, wrote the majority of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. n____n

Johnny Cash- Absolutely inspiring person to me, he quit on the drug abuse scene and was absolutely legendary, only country singer I like. RIP

Billie Holiday- Beautiful singer, she was is legendary and was a great roll model for black women in the 30-50's. RIP

Peter Steele- He lived a very tough life, he seemed like a very interesting person though, I loved his music in Type O Negative. RIP

Wow I wonder how awesome it would sound if all of em decided to work on an album together....

My wife...I've never had the pleasure of sitting down to a real meal together.
My brother in law - died before I had a chance to meet him and my wife's smile at seeing him again would be enough in and of itself.
My dad - my longest and truest friend.
My Pepe (grandfather) - to thank him for my father and so him and dad could hug once more.
Thanks for this!

Billy Connolly- because he is the funniest person on the planet, but seems like such a great guy, I love when he goes to different places in the world and talks about the lives and cultures of the people, he has such sincerity about it all and appreciation of the world. People only know him for his comedy but I think there is an intelligence that people don’t always see because they are always so busy waiting for him to say something humerous.

Michael Jackson- I’d love to find out who he really is as a person and hear it from him, not the media. I’d like to give him a chance to show himself without the twists of the media and the jokes and judgement of others. I want to know what his hopes were for the planet and environment because he died before he got the chance. I think there is a great deal more to this man than he was ever given credit for and I’d like to sit with him and let him show that. Every human being deserves that chance.

Gunther von Hagens- an extremely interesting man, again things have been manipulated about him and I’d like to find out for myself what he is really like. He has an amazing story to tell I do know, and does actually seem like a nice person and intelligent. Even if people think the work he does is nuts.

David Attenborough- I have watched him ever since I was a kid, I think he is amazing and has allowed people the chance to see the smaller details of the planet that they otherwise wouldn’t have noticed and are continually taken for granted. So next time you go to squish that bug just think for a second, bugs have feelings too you know...

And if I can add a fifth- Joaquin Phoenix, because he’s super hot...

Another thing to consider, what would you actually HAVE for dinner? When I went to the US I went to this Buddhist vegetarian restaurant and man, I don't think I've ever been so thankful for being a vego like I was eating that food. 2 years later and I still think about it... I'd get everything on the menu and sit with everybody. We could all sit on the floor and pick at each others meals and talk about things.

Albert Einstein, Carl Sagan, Ayn Rand and Isaac Newton. They are seem to be the "thinking, silent" type and since I dont do idle chit chat very well (Im not too social that way), Id have dinner with these guys because they may not talk too much.

Yeah I don't think I'd know what to say either, I'm not very good at making conversation with people I don't know. I'd just sit there awkwardly like '.....so......do you, like... stuff?'. I've found it even more awkward when the other people are quiet too. I'd rather get someone who does like to talk to start the whole thing going.

Nobody. I find eating with people awkward. One of my fav semi-famous people was selling tickets for some "dinner" just for promo/fun and it was somewhere near me and I could afford it and it was local..but I had no interest in going. LOL

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

because he was amazing. he was rebellious, pushed his students to be their very best. Though a strict buddhist monk, he dabbled in many of the pleasures of the flesh throughout his life as a way to master the attachment to the same.

It is said that he regularly took LSD and would meditate like that for days on end, during the sixties or seventies ish. There is a funny story that says he once gave his closest studnts the opportunity to take LSD and meditate, but that he ended up being the only monk to be able to sit still for the entire trip. The rest were rolling around on the floor or screaming about insects. Its said that LSD to this rinpoche was just a catalyst for higher learning - that his mind was so strong it could resist anything it did not want.

Pema Chödrön

Pema Chödrön is a leading exponent of teachings on meditation and how they apply to everyday life. She is widely known for her charming and down-to-earth interpretation of Tibetan Buddhism for Western audiences.
Pema studied under the meditation master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and currently studies with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche.
Pema is the resident teacher at Gampo Abbey, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, the first Tibetan monastery for Westerners. She has written several books: "The Wisdom of No Escape", "Start Where You Are", "When Things Fall Apart", "The Places that Scare You", "No Time to Lose" and "Practicing Peace in Times of War"

Since I have a few recent dreams about eating Chinese food I would have to say order lots of different Chinese dishes. And I would have to add Bill Cosby as my fifth person. I have had other dreams about eating with people. I wonder what dreaming of food means.

1. Elvis Presley. Because I love the story of how he came to prominence and would love to hear him tell stories of his early career in the 50s

2. Mary Magdalene. She would have an interesting perspective on Jesus

3. Elizabeth I. She was a powerful woman and I would like to hear about being a female ruler back then and also see if I could hold my own with her in conversation

4. Oliver Sacks. Because I find his books fascinating, and I've heard he is interesting and funny.

Ralph Waldo Emerson---would like to actually have conversation with him-love his writings, and thoughts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus Christ-----Oh, He'd just add to the basic calm and quietness of the party.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Virginia Wolf---curious to know her as a person.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain)--for story telling, in case the party gets too quiet-he's got some funny ones!

Only four--ugh.....I understand Marlon Brando is a riot, Elvis would be great to actually meet, Winston Churchill, Plato, Abraham Lincoln, Sigmund Freud, Einstein--J.D. Salinger.............

well, if any of the others couldn't make it, they'd be on the waiting list.
