For all that I'm at home sick, and can't go out anywhere . . . I really just had an urge to want to go find a stream or a pond and play with frogs. Growing up I always played with frogs when I went hiking. So maybe I want to go hiking also. But I really want to play with frogs. And not frogs that are in a tank, but outdoor frogs.

I know. I'm weird.
Thanks for this!

((((googley)))))--you're not weird! It's the world that's weird.

Sometimes I just want to go out and catch fireflies-----but there are none here.
I miss that kinda stuff-----frogs--
yeah, I used to like to catch them at day camp-------fun...tadpoles turn into frogs--right?-----------used to catch tadpoles, watch them turn into frogs......

Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks for this!

Thousands of years, even 100's of years ago, we humans were outdoors most of the day, foraging for food. Thanks to technology we're starting to imprison ourselves inside - imagine yourself, minus the computer, TV or video system - we're just sitting, vegetating. So the lesson learned is, our bodies/minds crave movement and being outdoors in touch with nature, is soul enriching. Believe me I have to go out more too.
Is there a natural wildlife area you can visit? Just because we're adults, doesn't mean we lose the ability to appreciate what we loved as children. So go find a place where there's frogs. My daughter also loves frogs and wildlife.

You're not weird.

When I was a kid, we had buckets of those lil green frogs. They were everywhere. We used to have frog races. And in the winter, when the driveway would frost over, see how fast the frogs would slide down the driveway..
Loved salamanders, too. Used to pack em into my pockets...my special lil friends...lol.

Great memories. Thanks for bringing it up to remind me.....

(((Lynn)))--I loved it---it brought me back to what I really wanted to say!!!
It's so true, we don't go out enough---we are still little kids deep down inside,
and we want to play!!!

What better place than out in a wooded area, with a pond?

One of the last things I remember Audrey Hepburn say before she passed....sigh...
her beautiful voice echoes---"Whenever you are really low--just go outside!"
Thanks for this!

How about, next time it rains, instead of using an umbrella, we go out and let it pour - the neighbors might think we're a little silly though lol.

By the way, I live a block from the lake so we have many toads in our neighborhood. I have to be careful when I walk Bella at night because they're on the sidewalk sometimes.

Last summer my youngest wanted to keep one as a pet. The second day she was very concerned Mr.Toad wasn't eating. Since it was early spring we couldn't find many live bugs, so we went to the pet store and bought some live crickets. Unfortunately the toad died later that day and she was crying. It didn't feel right just throwing toad in the garbage, so we buried it and put a rock on top. Amazing what kids can make us do LOL.

Evening- Thank you for the pictures. They are wonderful.

Rhapsody- I like the rain too. Especially when it is hard.

Lynn_P.-I'm sorry your daughter's frog died. Does your dog go after the frogs? When I was a kid we had a dog, but didn't walk him near frogs. So I don't know if he would have gone after them.
Thanks for this!

No she doesn't bother with them, which is unusual because she tries to run after little rabbits. I wonder if there's some sort of natural repellent they give off. When ever we pick them up, they pee.

I used to catch frogs too when I was a kid. We used to sell them to the circus for 20 cents a piece , they fed the snakes with them.
Such bad kids we were . All that for a couple bags of potato chips and a soda pop.

If you've never kissed a frog you're not wierd. Unfortunatly, I am wierd.

I love frogs. I still yelp whenever one jumps... crazy, the beauty of tiny, perfect little creatures.

Definitely not weird. It's good to be out in nature. I wish I could send you our "peepers". Every evening, this time of year, they sing to us from the river. It is beautiful symphony and they are fun to be with. I understand why you miss them. I would miss them too.
Thanks for this!
