I have an intense fear of dying and death itself. Although I am young and healthy, this fear is seriously affecting my life in a negative way. It is almost always on my mind. I now obsessively search spirituality websites looking for answers. This does little to help me because I am extremely skeptical of everything that I read on these issues. Because I don't believe in anything I get the feeling that life in meaningless. In my mind I can argue away all claims that life does have meaning. I really need some help.

If you are someone who is religious or spiritual, how do you maintain your beliefs? I'm the sort of person who is logical and needs rational proofs for any arguments. Although I guess existence itself is pretty illogical.

Hello, epmc1986. Are you being treated for the depression? If so, why not ask your therapist about this?

Hello empc

I've died and twice been to what is called "the light". Each time the journey was the same but different things happened. I won't go into it in depth but I wanted to share with you 3 things. This was the first death,

Death is nothing to be afraid of, it doesn't hurt it takes away physical pain only, not mental anguish (the anguish I faced was whether to come back & complete what I came here to do or stay home).

There is more beyond this lfe but you are asked to live this life fully and in unconditional love.

My doctor, the one who signed my death certificate said to me when I came back "You cannot be here! You are defying every scientific fact I was taught about death, the human brain and body; you simply cannot be here now I saw you die I pronouced you".

Please don't be afraid, breathe gently and allow thoughts of life to replace thoughts of death. Even if you do it slowly one day at a time. I haven't been afraid of death since that happened, and since it happened again it just proved what I had been through the first time was real

Take care and please read Raymond Moody's book Life after life,

Rhiannon
