I have a confession to make - I'm a slob. Especially when I'm depressed, then I let things go completely around the house. Well I had a 4 month depressive episode, so you can imagine. My plan was to tackle house cleaning when i was on holiday from work (my new meds were kicking in so I was feeling motivated). Then I got fired, got drunk, crashed my car and generally screwed up my life. Motivation gone again, plus I've been in a lot of pain.

But I finally got up the energy to deal with the kitchen today, and it has been thoroughly scrubbed, including the floor. I still have to clean out the fridge but I'll do that tomorrow.

Then it's on to the living room / dining room.

I must admit I have additional motivation. I don't know how quickly I'll be going IP, and I want the place cleaned up before I do, just in case my landlady comes in, while I'm in the hospital. I don't want to get kicked out of my apartment for being a slob.

So now I'm hot, tired, and sweaty but I feel good.

Wow - you even scrubbed floors.
Sounds like you have really been through a lot lately. Sending you many good wishes... Congrats for getting all that stuff done.

That's awesome! You must be proud of yourself for this accomplishment. Remember, sometimes we must start out with the smallest steps when we're depressed, but you went ahead and did a huge project. Good for you! Here's hoping that you will continue being motivated in the days to come.

You sound exactly like me, I'm on month number 4 of a total breakdown/depressive/hermiting phase, and I totally let things go in my house too. I had an inspection recently and my house is already disgusting, the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom are the worst. I totally cleaned my kitchen a few months ago, roof to floor, cupboards, fridge, everything. Then I got into this total cleaning phase and decided to spring clean and get rid of all this junk I've been keeping for years. Well I got halfway through and just couldn't do it anymore, I've lost the motivation again, and now I have a carport full of garbage bags and old stuff.
But don't you just feel awesome while it lasts?
Thanks for this!

I thought I was the only one that had this kind of problem. My house needs a good cleaning. I wish I could get motivated.

Great work splitimage! I've been in a depressive for over 4 years now and I know how difficult it is to get up the energy as well as the intention...

It's good that you are going IP I really hope it helps you,

Rhiannon
