The electrician just came to my house, I'm so glad he did otherwise there could have been a bit of a tragedy at my house. The light switch in my bedroom fell into the wall when I went to turn it on one day, and I've had light globes literally explode from the ceiling. He just told me that when he went to look it was completely black and that the point 'popped' in his face when he went to fix it. I am still waiting to find out how bad the power point is too, I had 2 heaters explode and one melt in the socket as I unplugged it. Can you just imagine what COULD have happened? Like I'm not hypervigilent enough as it is, my house could have burned down.

So glad that you got the electrician out Evening I guess the explosions and meltings were a pretty good indication that something wasn't right.
Had the same issues here recently so I'm glad you got it sorted, Rhiannon

When the heater plug melted in the socket it was really scary, the wall where the power point is was warm so I thought there was a fire in the wall. But I had no idea that it was actually the light switch that was really bad, I thought it was just the switch, and I thought the globes breaking was just because I was buying a cheap brand. I have new switches now, the power point has 2 plugs now, and it's the first time I can turn on my bedroom light in months!

How scary. A few years ago one of my breakers failed to flip and it melted. I am still amazed that didn't start a fire. I have electrical shorts in two rooms (at least) in my house and it scares me.
