"If the act of procreation were neither the outcome of a desire nor accompanied by feelings of pleasure, but a matter to be decided on the basis of purely rational considerations, is it likely the human race would still exist? Would each of us not rather have felt so much pity for the coming generation as to prefer to spare it the burden of existence, or at least not wish to take it upon himself to impose that burden upon it in cold blood?"
-Schopenhauer

"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within."

A lot of people don't realize that depression is an illness. I don't wish it on anyone, but if they would just know how it feels, I swear they would think twice before they just shrug it.

Have you ever felt despair? Absolute hopelessness? Have you ever stood in the darkness and known, deep in your heart, in your spirit, that it was never, ever going to get better? That something had been lost, forever, and it wasn't coming back?
-Jim Butcher, from Storm Front This is the story of my life since June 2010.

William Bradford was governor of the Plymouth colony at the first American thanksgiving in 1621.
He wrote the following in "Of Plimoth Plantation" "They begane now to gather in ye small harvest they had, and to fitte up their houses and dwellings against winter, being all well recovered in health & strenght, and had all things in good plenty; fFor as some were thus imployed in affairs abroad, others were excersised in fishing, aboute codd, & bass, & other fish, of which yey tooke good store, of which every family had their portion. All ye somer ther was no want. And now begane to come in store of foule, as winter approached, of which this place did abound when they came first (but afterward decreased by degrees). And besids water foule, ther was great store of wild Turkies, of which they tooke many, besids venison, &c. Besids, they had about a peck a meale a weeke to a person, or now since harvest, Indean corn to yt proportion. Which made many afterwards write so largly of their plenty hear to their freinds in England, which were not fained, but true reports."

Suffering has been stronger than all teaching, and has taught me to better understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but -I hope- into a better shape.
-Charles Dickens The truth that many people never understand, until it is too late, is that the more you try to avoid suffering the more you suffer because smaller and more insignificant things begin to torture you in proportion to your fear of being hurt. -Thomas Merton A chain is no stronger than it's weakest link. -Anonymous Sorry about having more than one...I found a good site with some that I knew I would probably forget later.
