Hi, I came back to this site partly because of the article in the psych central newsletter about the mind-body connection. Before I even read the survey results I just thought of course there is and didn't really understand how some people could think there wasn't. Even if a person is not spiritually inclined, I thought they would still acknowledge this, e.g. thinking calm thoughts can slow your heart-rate.

Does anyone not believe there is a connection?

I agree.

My ex used to go to the blood bank regularly to donate plasma. He would sit down and they would always say his BP was too high. He would close his eyes and imagine playing 18 holes of golf on a beautiful green tree-lined course. In five minutes, his BP was down enough to donate. So, he "psyched" himself down to normal blood pressure.

You can also lower your BP by petting your favorite pet.

So, yes, there is a mind-body connection.

I believe sometimes there is a strong connection between what we think and how we feel.
It's kind of like "faking a smile"... if you do it for long enough and believe it will help, sometimes it does.

Hey Gus,

I'm trying to be well as fast as I can but what I often think is well turns out not to be not quite after all or what other ppl say is delusional thinking so I have to rethink just what it is that constitutes 'being well' once again.

Hey Princess O! It is me, how are you?? It's great to see that you're on here

I've been in hospital twice this year but am now well into recovery process and intend to stay out of hospital for good this time!

I was hoping it was you. Wow, it truly is good to see you are up and thriving. Good for you.

I am still skipping along my recovery pathway and doing my best keep a positive beating tune in my heart, while doing so.

Anyway, thank you for mentioning such an intriguing, yet peace promoting topic, to which, I feel, can do wonders for those who truly want it to. You truly are becoming quite the inspiration.

As always, have a good one, dear friend.
Thanks for this!
