So even tho I'm on un-employement I needed a new Laptop. and a friend saved all my music/pics/contacts..that was a great help.
now getting used to the new laptop. the old one was a Gateway this is A Toshiba. I gave my old Tosiba to a Friend Hope this one lasts that long..

I started using macs and its been awesome. My imac has lasted over 3 years && my macbook over a year now.
They may be pricey but I think its worth it in the long run.

However, I also use a Toshiba && Dell and the Toshiba is great as well.

As a tech, my humble opinion is that the most important thing you can do for a laptop is .....never, NEVER use it on your bed. Always place it on a hard surface and never block the air vents. More laptops are lost due to overheating than anything else. An average laptop should last 3-4 years.

One little known fact is there are only about six companies in the world that manufacture laptops and all the major companies go there to bid on their products to market them under their names. It depends on the features and components they want to go into those laptops and what they want to sell them for. Also the demographics of their market. Gateway, no way. Toshiba has always been a strong competitor and at one time, was number one. Now it's Asus (or something like that?). Intel components are always a good bet. Apple is always a good gamble, too. They use unique components and a Unix based os that cannot be beat.

Remember, too, that laptops, although they may be portable, were not necessarily built to be heavy handed. So be gentle with them when carrying them. You can shake the hard drive hard enough to actually break it.
