This may not sound like a big deal, but it was for me. I am 50 years old, and was "taking care" of 2 kids. One really wanted to go sledding, so I said okay, I'll be nice, figuring I'd just watch for a few minutes and then we would leave.

I actually went down the hill. About 5 times. Backwards, mostly.
The thing is, I thought about it every minute. In my head, I was saying "Ok, maybe you could do this. Maybe you could actually do it. It might even be fun. Let yourself do this."

Gosh, I was SO self aware of every movement. And then I jut did it. In front of other people! Not a lot of people, but some!

And I must say, I was SO impressed with myself. In general, I do not DO fun. Almost never. I also talked myself into it by also thinking "well, if you do this, you will have to walk back up the hill, and then maybe you won't feel guilty all day about not getting any exercise at all."
Thanks for this!

Your story reminds me of my childhood when we would spend the whole day sledding. Sounds like the children brought out the child in you.

Glad to hear you took the risk, Hayward! I think we should never totally get rid of the "fun" in our lives!
Thanks for this!

Wow, sledding was always so much fun when I was a kid.....then it turned into skiing, & the final fun is my cross country skiis even in a little snow.

Now I just have my dogs to have fun in the snow with.....they love to run & romp & I get to throw snowballs at them (soft fluffy ones).

Never grew out of loving to be in the snow...

Glad you were able to enjoy yourself. I really think that the snow keeps each of us young & playful.

Have a happy winter

Terrifc! That's the spirit! Spent part of one summer rolling down a grave mound here with my son and niece. Good fun all around! Haven't done that in YEARS! Forgot about the rocks though. Keep up the good work!

If you were backwards, were you really going uphill?

Good for you for joining in the fun?
