I think that's a very common stereotype. But here are a couple of high profile vegans who can hopefully help dispel the myth that we're all sickly, underweight weaklings!!!!

Ellen DeGeneres

what's the frist word you think of when you hear the word ''vegan''

Bob Harper

Emily Deschanel

Carl Lewis

The first single word that I think of is: complicated.

My first full thought is somewhat one of resentment. All of the vegans that I have known are like former smokers. It is very difficult to remain friends with someone that attacks everything I put in my mouth. I confess I only maintain relationships with two vegans. I know my other friends had the best intentions, but the conversion attempts got tiring.

My SIL is vegan, as is my daughter’s college roommate. When either of them comes for dinner I go out of my way to make sure they have several vegan dishes to choose from. Granted they are the same three dishes every time they eat here, but I digress. I’m perfectly content to eat a salad and veggies when I eat at SIL’s home.

I could be a vegetarian, not vegan though.

I guess my point is that I have no opinion on what is on your plate, so keep your opinion of what is on mine to yourself.

I totally agree with you. And that's precisely why it annoys me when so many people mock vegans.

I certainly agree with you that it works the other way too. Preachy vegans are the worst kind of "poster child" and do nothing but alienate people. At the end of the day veganism is a personal choice reflecting personal values.......

I think "carrot cake"...the best carrot cake I've ever had was at a vegan coffee shop.
