I love pizza too and since the economy has been bad I save by making my own. I go down to the corner pizza place and they sell me the dough for a dollar - I feel guilty doing it lol. I'm still surprised they're willing to do that lol. TBH mine is better than any pizza place and guess what I'm making it today. We like mushrooms, olives pepperoni and onions. I'm a master at now. My kids love it so much, that I send it with them in their lunch - they don't mind it cold. Yes we love ice cream too but only eat it once in a while.

Lynn - I've started making my own pizza too! I love it but am not doing so well on the money-saving front... I love so many toppings (and am such a greedy guts) that by the time I've piled on the mushrooms, pepperoni, anchovies, olives, ham, peppers... I think I've spent more than I would spend on a takeaway!!

Thanks for this!

I know what you mean. Here in Canada, prices have gone through the roof, especially cheese. I look for specials. I estimate it costs me about $ 7 compared to 25 for a delivered pizza with all those toppings. Pizza is big in our area because we have a large Italian community. I'm picky about my pizza. I absolutely despise frozen prepared pizza or those hot and ready $5 ones that have barely any cheese and too much sauce. This 1st time I did it, I got all stressed out...struggling with spreading the dough. I'm good now though. Since the unrest in the Middle East prices have gone up. Oops...here we are talking about pizza and I drag politics into it lol. Back on the subject.

I love pizza too (thanks for making me crave it guys! ), home made is definitely better because you can make it a lot healthier, and you can choose ANYTHING you want to put on it. I did have a conversation with someone recently that their friend in America had said they found it strange that people in Australia put pineapple on pizza. Is that true? Pineapple is a necessity on pizza here!
Thanks for this!

Go to the fridge/freezer section of the supermarket, and near the bread section, there should be bases there. I don't recommend pre-sauced bases though, they don't always taste too great.
Thanks for this!

I'm a big pizza fan, too. I try to get the thin crust and not put too much cheese on it--and select vegetables for toppings!

And, well, ice cream, can have fruit in it!

Yeah I can't be bothered to make my own dough even though I could do it. I buy mine from my local pizza place - let it come to room temperature so it's easier to spread. You can also buy it frozen in the frozen bread section...not as good though. It's a coincidence I made it today lol.

I like pizza too but unfortunately all the commercial pizzas have something (probably soy) that really messes with my intestines...
Ice cream is allright if its not too sweet; I have a bit of an aversion to sweet tastes.

There is a pizza here in the states called a Hawaiian that has Canadian bacon (tastes like ham) and pineapple tidbits. It usually has white cheese.

Ya know, I always thought Pizza was a food group.

I love pizza, and eat it way too often. My favorite toppings are pepperoni and pineapple. I don't like cooked vegetables very well, so they stay off my pizza. But pizza is definitely a food group.
