Hi folks,

Calista+12 has been a member of our community for nearly 2 years and has been on disability since 2005. Recent economic times have taken a toll on her and her husband, however, as he has been laid off from work and can't find new work. They need a grant to try and climb out of the financial hole they're living in right now, and I hope that the grant provides them a ray of hope and helps them find their footing once again.

So she's asked for a Community Connection Grant from our nonprofit, the Psych Central Community Connection.

I know these are rough economic times for many people, but I want you to seriously consider donating to this Community Fund Drive. I know that a financial contribution may not be possible, so if that's the case, please leave your prayers and thoughts privately or in this thread.

Psych Central will match dollar for dollar of every dollar donated (up to the maximum of $250; $500 total to the member). Every dollar counts, so even if you can afford just $5, please consider this request.

Donations can be made through PayPal to us at:

http://psychcentral.org/donate/

Otherwise, send your check or money order (no cash, please) to:

Psych Central Community Connection
55 Pleasant St., Suite 207
Newburyport, MA 01950

Everyone who donates gets access to our exclusive Poohbah Forum, and our thanks for helping out another member in need in our community. In addition, donations are tax deductible as allowable by law, as the Psych Central Community Connection is a recognized 501(c)3 public charity.

This Community Fund Drive will run for approximately one week; donations will close on Friday, March 18, 2011.

As always, I thank you for your kind consideration and support.

Best,
DocJohn

I'm mailing my check today Calista+12. I understand financial hardship. You are in my thoughts. I hope brighter days are in your future!

If I had started this new job yet I'd be better off financially myself and would help out, it sucks that I'm still waiting. So I'm sorry I'm still currently bad money wise myself, I hope others are able to help.
Thanks for this!

Really? All of you are angels. I cannot believe so many of you have responded with love and good wishes.
I promise, when I am back on my feet, I will be there for all of you and PC in general for anything that is needed. (Doc John, please recruit me for anything needed)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I do a lot of moaning about our government but we have such a good social service here I'm glad to help a fellow sufferer out if I can. Wish some nice yank would give my butt a good kick and get rid of this black cloud that hangs over me. Love Jasmine.

Calista, I'd send money if I can but being a student means I'm perpetually broke!

I hope that things get better for you soon!

Wanted to donate, I checked my balance and it's still at £1.22 - so I leave my hugs with you instead.

Could you pm me another way of paying? I'm in the UK, and can't get a cheque to you in time, and I simply can't figure out how to use paypal. Do you have bank account details that I could transfer some funds into?

I think only Doc John can answer that but no worries! Your good thoughts will help just as much.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! I recieved a check today. It will go towards our real estate taxes which haven't been payed at all this year. I was so scared that they would put a lein on the house because of non payment but now, they have something as payment and cannot (supposidly) do anything to our home.
You are the most loving bunch of people I have ever met. I cannot believe you would do all of this for a stranger. It makes me think maybe the world isn't as cruel as I thought. You are all forever in my thoughts.
Thanks for this!
