Do you think my username is scary or off-putting?

I've been thinking about people's usernames on PC, and the impressions they give. Some names are bright and happy, some are a little scary or spooky, some give the impression of being peaceful, earthy, manic, sad, etc etc.

I think at times the impression I get from a username can affect the way I respond to the person.

So I was wondering what impression my username projects.
Any and all honest opinions would be appreciated - I won't be offended.

Mine is my expression of who I think I am ... is that what 's going on with you?
I've become insignificant to everyone in my life or maybe I ought to say I 've allowed myself to become that way out of shear frustration. I've tried to reach out to my hubby and family but got no response many times, I know I'm retreating into a shell where its safe.
I used to be fun and quick witted but now I am quiet and stay out of the way. They dont want me around ... they dont come see me and when they do ... I freeze with terror.
I'm a recluse now.
I garden and have my dog Barney.

I think of someone who runs or jogs in the dark. Kind of dangerous, because so many people might not see you and you might get hit by a car. I agree that some of the names people choose are off-putting, but then I don't think that everyone is here for the same reasons.

I think people's screen names represent the person and where they are in life at the time.

I came here as SkyBdark. I was not in a good place. As I began to heal more, I changed to _Sky. Then, as I once again felt confident about who I am, and how I am, I went with my initials as I have now: JD.

Perhaps you're rethinking your name because you sense it doesn't really fit you today?

You can change it, you know. Check the Member's List for any name you might want, to see if it's already taken. Then send DocJohn a PM with a few choices of what you want to change to.

I wasn't going for 'scary.' -- I used to be a runner and my mood felt 'dark' so I just put the two together.

I guess maybe 'scary' isn't the right word - but maybe intimidating? I don't want people to get the idea that I'm unapproachable or unkind or anything. I guess even if I changed it to 'lightrunner' that would be better.

Maybe I am ready for a new name. I changed my name once before and I kind of got the sense that the mods really don't like to do it very often. but maybe I'm wrong about that.

Keep your moniker and run with it. Running has many health benefits. Start again.

I think you should keep your name. It's unique.

People tend to take things like this a little too seriously. Sometimes a user name can just be what someone thought of at the moment. For instance, when I was sitting there at the computer trying to think of something different than what I've always used in the past, I looked down and saw the freshwater pearl bracelet I was wearing. Nothing deep or analytical about that.

"Darkrunner" is what the good guys in a series of fantasy novels I'm reading describe themselves as So, I don't mind the name, just means Robin Hood sorts of characters who go out and break into bad guys houses at night to get back things they stole from good/honest people.

I like it. Works for me. Doesn't really matter what screen name people use, as far as I'm concerned. I picked mine mostly because it's never taken. LOL.
