I know that many here have a lot of gratitude & love for others but not a lot of money. A few years ago my friend gave me a very special gift. Since then I have changed it up a bit but use the idea often...

My friend took a box and decorated the outside with my initials and a colorful bits of paper. Inside were a bunch of neatly, hand written affirmations, things she admired about me, favorite memories, comics from the Sunday paper and other little tidbits to brighten my day.
I don't use my box every day but I do turn to it often, especially on bad days. I don't remember anything else I got that Christmas but I remember the box.

Dunno... thought that others may be able to use the idea...

That's is a great idea and thanks for sharing Omers. It's always nice to get a gift that has such a personal meaning. Just goes to show you, that a person doesn't have to spend a lot of money for someone to like a gift.

Once for Christmas I went to the dollar store and did up 2 baskets for their teacher and principal. I put in 4 cups, little trinkets and coffee and the other I did a hot chocolate theme. They cost about $8 completed. It bugs me when I get a basket delivered to my house and there's about 6 items and a bunch of filling underneath, that gives the illusion it's full of stuff lol and they charge so much for those baskets.

What a wonderful gift & idea. We have been instilling in the girls that its the thought that counts and that the best gifts are those made from the heart.

Lynn - I love the idea about making gifts for teachers from the dollar store. This year one of my daughters gave her teacher the gingerbread house that she made.
Thanks for this!
