Problem With Air Mattress

Hi all,

This probably seems like a stupid thread to post, but I am SO fed up with my air mattress. (I sleep on one because I can't afford a real bed yet).

Anyway, about a week ago my bed began losing air, and I couldn't find the hole for a while. Finally I found it, and covered it with enough duct tape so no air could get out from there. I thought the problem was fixed, but air kept coming out!

I've searched the entire bed about 5 times, and I haven't been able to find another hole. It's either super tiny, or my bed is losing air for another reason.

Is there a way that I could find this mystery hole more easily? Or should I give up and buy another air mattress? (I'm reluctant to buy another one, because the one I have right now was over $50).

Do you have a bathtub you can use to submerge it in to check for bubbles.

It could still be leaking from beneath the duck-tape.

That's what I'd think to do, put it in a bathtub or pool. Hope it gets fixed soon

I bought my son a twin mattress (regular not air) at KMart last week for $100. I have seen them on sale at similar prices at Sears, JCPenney and Macys, you have to watch for the sales. We didn't buy the box springs to save on money.

I went through three air mattresses, (((Crackers))) wouldn't let me clip her claws when she was at her worst last year-thus the air holes.

Nope, Duct tape doesn't work--I had to throw them out; but I found singles on sale at (gulp-ugh-don't tell anyone I was there) Walmart for only 20 bucks.

I tried everything, the first one I had was a Queen size, and self inflating--cost over 100 bucks in Vegas at Walmart---nothing works once there's a hole, you have to get another.

Remember, it's taking your whole body weight....they aren't made all that well--planned obsolescence. Be well----theo

Hey there, I personally haven't dealt with this but my Dad has. Duct tape does not work but there's something you can put on it that does.

I don't think you need that brand, just something LIKE it.

Basically your air is going right through the duct tape and you need something better to seal it in. If you have another leak like others have said the best way to find it is submerging it in water. Even the smallest holes will create bubbles.

Or use a spray bottle of water with dish liquid in it...get your face close and when you feel air on your face,spray the area and look for bubbles?...I'd save for a futon.Did you check Walmart.com for their prices? They have some inexpensive choices currently.It'd be better to put one on lay away than to invest again in an air mattress.
