UGH,I always spray myself with insect repellant, but yesterday, after getting home from lunch & a movie, I took my friend into my back yard to see the 2 alpacas I am babysitting & letting eat my grass in my back yard. I had long socks on & long pants on & really didn't think about chiggers at that time of evening.

By about 2am, I noticed a bit of uncomfortable feeling on my legs & by 5am decided to take a shower. I just started to see the bites show up at that time......well, today, I am counting about 100 bites at least. I am trying to keep the itch relief spray on my legs & body, but have to say, it's driving me a bit more crazy than I already am.

Insects & I don't get along very well.....one night I was eaten alive by the mosquitoes.....yesterday, the chiggers. I usually scratch the itches so bad I end up with scabs at every bite, but I'm trying not to do that this time. Sometimes taking a shower is my only real relief, but can't stay in the shower all day.

I was just getting to the point where I could work around the house after the fracture in my back healed....but moving around in the heat makes the bites itch that much worse........grrrr......wish I hadn't forgotten about the insect repellent. I need to keep in on a chain around my neck.....or maybe keep those repellent bracelets around my ankles. Of course, the grass in my back yard is to tall, it's not just under my feet.

I got rid of the ants in my house with those ant bait things....sat them everywhere the ants were & they haven't been back since......so no more squished ants or ants crawling in my ear.

I do keep finding the ticks, especially after we have the wet weather....they lessen up in the hotter dry weather....but we need the rain, so just have to keep a look out for them. Haven't been bitten by a tick....but the dang chiggers eat me alive.....every year....you would think I would learn by now Chigger bites seem to be the worse bites & itch worse than any other kind of bite I have ever had. They get that little blister in the center & stuff they bite with seems to inject the worse itchy feeling. NO, THEY DON'T stay under the skin after they bite.....that myth has been proven WRONG......but they definitely itch the worst of all bug bites I have ever had.

Ah, such is the price one pays to live in the beautiful country

I noticed something about you.
You're always getting harassed by some type of bug.
Its very disturbing. I'd go insane. I'm petrified of the little sh*ts.

LOL.....yes, I'm always getting bugged by the bugs around me. I grew up in California where we had fewer bugs then where I moved to 4 years ago.....there are more bugs where I live now than I ever imagined. But growing up, everytime I visited my grand parents in Kansas, I got eaten alive by the chiggers & mosquitoes there also......bugs have always seemed to like biting me....even when I was a kid, I walked under a tree in my back yard & a spider landed on my arm....before I could brush it off, it bit me. Wasn't a poisonous kind, but the itch was horrible. Think I'm alergic or at least more sensitive to what they inject with their bite which makes the bites itch more than for other people....but everyone says that the chigger bite is the worst itch of all.....& lasts several weeks of itching.

Paint fingernail polish over all the places where the chiggers are and it will kill them in about a day. I used to get chiggers at my grandmas all the times as a kid and the fingernail polish always worked.

AHHH yes, chiggers. i remember those gys! a very distant memory!
i don't miss em at all! cortizone wouldn't work clear nail polish did!
Flea and mosquito's are attracted to me, if theres one flea in the room it will find its way to me (work with animals) i have horrid reactions to bites and stings i got tons of prescription ointments steriods and epi pen. they must like my blood!
i will agree with you about the chiggers, thank god theres no such creature around here as well as fire ants! .....god has answered some prayers!, i used to live in eastern tennessee up in the mountains, it was kinda cruel and unusual punishment to bring a city beach dwelling california girl to the mountains of tennessee, but i survived

This is the best destription of a chigger that I have found....& it's right on with the itching just getting worse & worse.
http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/av...pests/chiggers

Bad me, the other day when I was taking a shower, all my bites started to itch intensely......so I started to scratch with the washcloth....needless to say, now my legs are covered with scabs. Luckily, the itch isn't near what it was to start....but my legs look horrible with 100's of bites all over my legs.....I look like I have the chicken pox. I think what really helped to start with was that I put some mud stuff that I used to use years ago on my face, all over my legs.....it was like green mud.....wow did I look strange walking around with green mud plastered legs...lol.....what a sight.
