Anyone here heard of a mandala?

"The word "mandala" is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean "circle," a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself--a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds." (taken from http://www.mandalaproject.org/What/Index.html)

In the psych ward, the nurses gave them to us to color, it was really fun and relaxing. Well, I have decided to actually design my own and tonight I made 5 of them.

Let me know if you like them and if you would like me to make more.

Hello, krisakira. You have a talent. The mandalas are all nicely done. I like the intricacy of the third one.
Thanks for this!

I used to colour mandalas in - printed off the internet. I even shared a few of the finished products here.
It is a fine and relaxing thing to do.

I like yours very much.

You're so talented, they're great! I love to color them in too, I have a bunch printed off the Internet. I too got hooked on them in the hospital.

Wow, these are wonderful. I am glad you pointed this out, I didn't know about this but I have always loved curves and circles. I had known about dream catchers but not this. And I can see how coloring one could be very relaxing to the mind.

I love all the ones you have made but I do agree with the Byz about the third one being my faviorite.

I wonder if these designs could be printed onto fabric as a twal or colored as well and then made into throw pillows, wouldn't that be nice?

Nice work, thank you for sharing.

Did you use a computer program to generate them or did you draw them freehand? I found a program on the internet that generates snowflakes that is so much fun to create with the drawing of all the different lines & details. I found it was great therapy just to create the showflakes let even without printing them out & coloring them.

In my DBT group, they had a printed page of butterflies. I ended up using the puff paint that was glittery to paint in the butterflies in bright colors....one time when I didn't want to think or do anything else or even try to do the intricate beading jewelry that I usually do when I need to be creative......

Think you know if making more mandelas is something that will benefit you......it is good therapy to just let the mind be quiet & create.

Thanks everyone it is therapeutic. it'd be so cool to see someone color them in and show me what they look like! and i can color them in too.

eskielover, i used Adobe Illustrator to draw them, so i could be more precise and get the angles and measurements right.

Those are awesome. I fell in love with Mandalas when I was in the psych ward. I have gone as far as buying coloring books with Mandalas. I use different mediums to color them. My favorite is colored pencils, they get in the tight spaces better. If I can figure out how to print yours I would love to color them.
