Hi Everyone.....I have greatly missed you all but my computer died and I have to use the one at the local library bi-weekly, and if I get lucky more often.
I have a few questions maybe some of you can help me; with those that live in the southeast USA (Tennessee, Mississippi, Lousiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas). Unfortunetly due to my physical health problems I have to stay somewhere much warmer than the Northern States. My husband and I are searching for a place where we can feel like we belong. We are currantly living in Florida in a camper until I get my disability. Once I get my Social Security we hope to buy a cheap handyman fixer upper type home some where to live out the rest of our lives. What are social services like in your state? How are the Doctors and Hospitals? How do they treat people who are on Social Security? Do they have transportation available for the Disabled? Do they have home help available for the Disabled? How much is electric for a kwh (kilo watt hour)? Are there alot of empty homes for sale due to the economy? Does your state have automobile safety and emission inspections? If, so how much does it cost and how often is it required? Do you know how much yearly registration is? Are most places in the area where you live ADA (Americans with Disability Act) compliant? Employment oppurtunities for older (example 55 year old mechanic?) people? How cold does it get in the winter? How hot does it get in the summer? Is it difficult to get help from your state to help with heating and cooling costs? Does your state have weatherization programs? Does your state have Habitat for Humanity? Do they have food stamps available for low income people? Food Pantries? Any other things you can think of to help would be appreciated. You can PM me if you wish to keep your answers private, or if you wish to share with others, you can post it here in this forum. Thank you all in advance for any information you can help me with, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. LostSavant "Blessings to you and yours" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes, I'd make sure I was near a larger metropolitan area with choices for medical care and more cosmopolitan points of view to help with how one is perceived.
Another couple good listings: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2010/ http://portal.kiplinger.com/tools/re...l?map=6#anchor I live northeast of Baltimore, Maryland; the really bad/cold weather goes up to Pennsylvania and there's lots of diversity. We moved to Harford County (from Howard County) to get out of the more expensive Baltimore/Washington corridor; our house here was $100,000 less than the one we sold in the other county. I've lived in Maryland for over 25 years and spent many of my years growing up here (and went to college here). http://www.livinginmaryland.com/
