My DVR has this option of "live" programming, in which case it is supposed to automatically add 15 minutes to the beginning & end of the program. I don't know if it works, cause I haven't tried it. I don't trust it.

I had gone to bed when Blue Bloods was supposed to be on, cause it's on too late for me. It showed up in my "future recordings", so I thought it was okay. Obviously not....

It also won't record the # of episodes I set it for, but EVERYTHING. Let's say I want it record repeats of a show, but only 7 episodes. It will record everything it finds. It creates recording conflicts and takes up space.

Another thing that really annoys me is how the DVR thinks any episode that doesn't say "repeat" MUST be new! Example: I have it set to record new episodes of Hot in Cleveland. Lately, they are showing a lot of repeats, but the guide said a generic description: "3 LA women decide to settle in Cleveland." It didn't say it was a repeat, so the DVR picked up all of them to record.

Fortunately, the guide updated itself to actual episode descriptions, adding the important word "repeat". So now, the scheduled recordings are gone. Now I have to check the DVR everyday to see if the "recorded" show is the ACTUAL show....

Just need to add that companies like TWC and DirecTV always brag about how advanced and "state-of-the-art" they are with their technology. Pretty much all cable & satellite companies do this, as well as phone/communications companies like AT&T.

If so, they need to invent a DVR "smart" enough to know when it's recording the right program, and even if it starts early/ends late!

If anyone has Time Warner, have you had trouble with your favorite channels disappearing? Or the list is there and it says, "Contains 5 channels", but when you click on the list nothing happens?

Then, when you look at the list of all channels, the fave channel mark is gone! It's like they de-selected all your channels.

I don't want to talk to the cable company. I just re-create them. It only takes a few minutes, but I've had to do it twice in the last 6 months.

Also, my reminders don't stay put. Once I set it to remind me once a week, it should do that.
