I have been posting in the chronic pain forum about my persistent knee pain and how terrible it's getting. At first my ortho thought it was tendinitis and gave me a couple bands to put over my tendon. Those helped for a couple days but then the pain came back with a vengeance. So I went back yesterday, he felt around on my knee and said I need to have it scoped.

I have never had surgery before. Not even for my wisdom teeth. I still have all my parts lol. I have never been under or anything like that. Has anyone ever had a knee scope before?

I guess what I'm most scared of is that they will get in and NOT find something. That means my pain is coming from god knows where. I never get nervous but I'm actually a little nervous. I go in a week from next Wednesday.

I have not been scoped for the knee either but other procedures for another joint. I can relate to your concerns and fears. It is good you are being proactive about it though as sometimes we can do more damage over time than had it not been looked at in the first place; let alone in dealing with the discomfort that could be settled by getting this done. With family and friends having their knees scoped, it is amazing what can be done now, great results. Sending good wishes your way and for a speedy recovery. Hang in there this week with hugs meanwhile.

Thanks, Byz. That website is helpful. I know it's a pretty standard procedure and happens a lot. I guess my main concerns are that I'm only 24 and already having knee surgery. And there is still a chance they don't find anything and then I'm left with unexplained knee pain.

Once I start my PhD I'm kicked off my mom's insurance which is next year so I'm getting all of this stuff out of the way now. I'm going to the doc for even the littlest things just to make sure it's covered by insurance. I wasn't expecting surgery to be the outcome of these visits so it was a little bit of a surprise.

I just have to go in there with a good attitude and not worry about afterwards. ***deep breaths***
