Hi There ~ I'm quite new and I'm not sure where I should post a Thread regarding my issures with clutter. I know you are a "general" group that is here to just relax and not deal with issues! Do you have any suggestions where this type of question might be posted? I'd appreciate you input and I'll be back to "relax" with you soon!

Blessings~

If by clutter you mean hoarding, the OCD forum might be a good place to start. If you just mean general organizational problems, this is probably an appropriate forum

Thanks, Indie - I'll visit OCD a little closer to see where I reallly fit. I can't say as to whether I'm classified a hoarder (YET), but I'm in a "I don't care mode," and that's when things just get left all over the place because I just don't care. I had to move in with my folks due to their health issues, so I'm packing large amounts of my belongings in a very small space. There is hardly any space in the basement to help with storoage. For this reason, my "room" looks like a pig sty and I don't even know where to beigin...I am totally overwhelmed. I'm pretty sure that both my folks will be gone within a year of so (most likely sooner), due to their health. I've got to get things in order so that the house can be sold. I have no siblings, good friends or relatives...I am overwhelmed. I need to have things organized and I really don't believe I have much time. I get so upset because I have no place to go with everything. This is my issue.....what do you think....hoarders. I am overwhelmed. Is this a stress issues because of all the "stuff" that is going on? I used to be very organized. Now I panic because I can't find any of my paperwork when I need it....I am just a mess.....worried and scared. I'm ready and very willing to die, but as to the willing, thankfully, God says it is Him and Him alone that's been given this poweful act with regards to human life. Thanks for your simple answer, sorry I babbled on. It's just been one of those days. I appreiate your kindess.

Thanks for the help...so very much appreciatedl

Blessings ~

Are you saying that sometimes you're the first way about it, other times the second way, and whichever way you are at the moment, the other way must be wrong?

I'm thinking that it's too soon to tell where you should've posted this question, and that we may just have to wait and see where the discussion goes.

I have been battling having let everything just "go" for a few years. The hardest part is even starting. But I am making progress, but I have to keep pushing myself. In my case, the biggest challenge is piles of paperwork with important documents here and there in the midst of piles of junk. So I have to look at a mountain of stuff carefully, because something quite crucial could be there. I recommend getting the stuff they use in offices to file and put each and every paper you save in a manilla folder that you label. It is taking me so long, but it is worth it to find stuff. Good luck. Sorry for all that you are going through at home with your family. You have a lot on your shoulders.

This is a great question/topic!

Clutter issues seem to cross many lines. I suspect some of us could tell both horror stories as well as humorous tales about our clutter.

Some of my clutter issues are due to my depression. Some are just due to my being more interested in using my time to do something fun. And some are due to feeling anxious that I will toss something away that I will need 6 months from now.

Wishing - my thought is that you are in a unique situation trying to store your belongings in a very small space and probably just need a game plan on how to get it under control.

I am finding that if I focus in on just one piece of the overwhelming task at hand, I can handle it. Start small - perhaps filing all of the papers as Rose suggested. Then move on to another task such as finding a space to hang the clothes you will wear for the season and packing the others in boxes labeled by season. As space clears, you will start to see the next logical group of stuff to tackle.

Oh, I just motivated myself to head to my most cluttered room and start sorting out a pile of books!
