I am prepping for a colonoscopy and have used the toilet about 50 times so far today. I am drinking this prep solution that tastes really really bad....a gallon of it. I have to drink 8 ounces every 30 minutes. I gargle with mothwash after to get the tase out of my mouth. Yuck. Can't wait till this is overwith. Ughhhh!

Hello, popeye. I hope the colonoscopy finds nothing to be concerned about.

I hope your butt survives the prep, that worries me more than the "camera work". Good luck and thanks for sharing!

(((((popeye))))) I know, it is an awful prep procedure. Yes the stuff tastes terrible.
Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to rest after the procedure. I was told I could go back into action the next day and I waited. So give yourself some time out.

Your doing yourself a favor by checking yourself out. And the other thing I want to tell you that can happen. If you happen to wake up during the procedure don't get frightened they will put you right back out. They try not to give you too much anesthesia during this procedure. It is better for you to have as little as possible to prevent having a lengthy time getting over the effects of anethesia.

I am not telling you that to frighten you, I woke up during my procedure and I wish they had told me not to worry if that happened. So if it should happen don't worry, they will just put you right back under.

Good luck, may they find you healthy and clear.

I don't remember the solution tasting all that terrible, but the prep was still VERY unpleasant. Compared to that, the colonoscopy itself was nothing. Best of luck to you!

I agree the prep is by far the worst part and I dreaded the whole thing for years lol. I'm not used to any kind of diet or limitations and felt like I was starving to death and then drinking that clear liquid was torture - I had to plug my nose to hide the taste. Then after all that prep they could only do half the test. I wish there was an easier way instead of drinking that awful liquid. I would rather do a liquid diet for a week than drink that stuff. At least you're out for the procedure itself. The toilet will be your best buddy today lol. I hope it's goes well and you're fine.

The prep was completely miserable. They are going to have to really work to convince me to go through that again. I'd had a colonoscopy before, but they used a different kind of prep that didn't require drinking so much of that solution. It still wasn't pleasant, but I didn't feel completely traumatized like I did this time. I also had trouble when I woke up being in really bad pain from gas. Again, I didn't have that problem the first time. Better you than me.

I now have a new event to add to my PTSD . Thanks for the replies...I am clean as a whistle says the doc. I think I would rather die than go through that again. I leaked all over my bed last night. It was a mess

How many hours in advance of the procedure do you have to start the prep? I am trying to plan the date of my procedure and wonder how many hours before the procedure I'll need to be doing the prep. And how long are you laid up afterwards? Can you return to work the next day?

It isn't just the procedure, but the after effects as well. They make you stay until you pass all that gas they pumped into you...but really, you don't pass ALL of it while there.
