Hi gang,
We are leaving for Florida tomorrow for a vacation, a visit with our daughterand family. We hope to find a house to buy too. You may know that we are retiring the first of the year and moving to the Fort Myers area permanently. I won't be able to post any pictures while I am gone so if anyone wants to do some on the "Good morning", "Are you visual" and "Funny Stuff" threads that would be great. I will have my tablet with me so will be in touch.

We looked at houses today in the heat and humidity. We did find one we liked. Thank goodness as the others were pretty rough. We are seeing it tomorrow afternoon again. We are having a nice visit with the family too. It looks like the people taking care of our dog Sheena will keep her. I am sad and happy at the same time.

Update:
There is a house very close to my daughter's. This was our first consideration and also one without the kitchen being visible from the front door. This one is like that. We are seeing it again tomorrow and maybe make an offer. Oh and we went to the beach today too. Packed up before the torrential rains came.

There was a housing boom a few years ago here and the builders used what they call chinese dry wall. It is pretty nasty stuff and it makes the house unlivable. That house may have it. We can't take the chance it does as it was built on those years.
So we continue. There is one we saw that was a little too far from our daughter's. We may still do an offer. Between the chinese drywall and short sales it doesn't seem like there are as many to choose from as we first thought. We are enjoying our visit though.

In part but the Chinese were trying to comply with US regulations and something went wrong.
We have decided to make an offer on an older house. Our bid is much lower than the asking price, but if we get it we will know it is meant to be. I have been feeling wiped out. House hunting is not always fun. It is nice to be with the family in a less formal way though. Knowing we will be here permanetly makes a difference. Before, our visits were kind of frenzied trying to get a lot of things done in a small amount of time. This time we are meeting their friends and sharing in their lives. It makes for a easier transition, at least I hope so.

Well we went home without a house. But we finally had a day with the family which was much needed.
We are now dogless too as the friends that were keeping Sheena for us while we were gone will be keeping her. I am happy for her but live is sadder without her.
