this is something ive always been curious about. what is the meaning behind your username? why did you pick it? what inspired it?

i realize that it can be hard to figure this out, especially if its a name youve had for a long time.

ill go first my name is kristi, so ya know, theres that. but im also pretty crazy. and i like to be different so i misspelled crazy as much as possible to make it as different as possible.

ive had it for a few years and i still like it.

soo what about yours??

Thanks for this!

My first username was: ohseedee, which was a different way of spelling out "OCD".

I eventually decided to change my username, because I had overcome almost all of my OCD symptoms and it wasn't (and still isn't) an issue. So I changed to: melissa recovering...which is pretty self explanatory. My name is Melissa, and I'm always in the process of recovery!

I got my BS from Southern Illinois University whose mascot is the saluki. It has felt more like my home than anywhere else I've ever lived and I miss it a lot.

Oh....and I have a vagina....that's where the 'girl' comes from :P

I am Phoenix 7 - Phoenix because 5 years ago my life turned to ashes and then i started to rise from those ashes into a new life ....

7 because that is the number of levels i feel inside that i stopped at - or ages if you like , times in my life when the world ended and i started again -

so - Phoenix 7

I got my username because of my first dog; Cutlass. My dad calls him Buddy. So i combined both names. Cutbuddie So i will never forget my first dog that to this day is still alive, healthy, and loving his retirement home here on the farm. <3

Percival or Perceval: Hero of Arthurian legend. His childlike innocence protected him from worldly temptation. In Chrétien de Troyes's 12th-century Le Conte du Graal, Perceval visits the castle of the wounded Fisher King and sees the Grail, but he fails to ask about it and therefore fails to heal the Fisher King. He subsequently sets out in search of the Grail and grows spiritually. In later Grail legend he was displaced by Galahad as the hero of the Grail quest but continued to play an important role. His story was told in Wolfram von Eschenbach's 13th-century Parzifal, which provided the basis for Richard Wagner's opera Parsifal (1882).

TheByzantine:
  • 2 excessively complicated and detailed. ■ characterized by deviousness or underhand methods.
Either seemed a step up from Caspar Milquetoast. TheByzantine seemed to fit for reasons I will not go into.

Advena is latin for stranger or alien. I feel isolated from other people and society so it seemed appropriate.

I love Freesia flowers; miss them where I grew up in the south and cannot grow them here. If only I had been more awake when I discovered PC that day to have spelled it correctly, but perfectly fits with my other flaws with the misspelling.

Yes, I think there was a thread on this a while back

My name is from my daughter's dog Belle who was a beautiful dog..part shepard, part lab. She was gentle, and friendly and they got her when my grandaughter was a baby. She passed away last year. I always told my daughter that Belle and I would go out on lump of ice one day and just sail away. We both had arthritis really bad. Belle finally was not able to stand at all, and lost so much muscle mass just in a two week period. They had to put her to sleep. She indeed was a great dog. I still miss her and wish I could see her when I go there

Doesn't matter that there was a thread like this. In fact, in all the years I've been here, there have been LOTS of threads like this. I always participate in the new threads by newer members, who don't go into the archives, and just enjoy the fun and innocent curiosity at hand.

Well my name came was made up in a chat kind of on this site. I really like the name Neon colors. Amazonmom said to change my name to Xenon because I liked bright colors. Xenon means A colorless, odorless, highly unreactive gaseous element found in minute quantities in the atmosphere. So I used the Xe part and spelled the last part of my name with neon cause I like neon colors. Wow this sounds geeky but this how I came up with my name...lol

A saluki is an egyptian hunting dog (the oldest pure bred) and during the dust bowl, southern illinois was one of the few places in the US fit for crops bc it is surrounded by the Mississippi and the Ohio rivers and the Illinois runs through it also. Thus, is became known as Little Egypt (like Mesopotamia). The most southern city is called Cairo and the mascot of SIU went from the marooners to the Salukis.
