I'm in the hospital right now to get my head scanned because I've been having bad headaches for a month. And on a physical they did a routine scan on my heart, then the nurse called over the doctor pointing to the screen on the machine saying "I've never seen this before" first thing in my head? "AAAAH I'm dying" nope, the colour on the monitor changed and she couldn't change it back. She should really choose her words more carefully lol.
Still waiting for my actual scan, this is gonna be a boring day lol

I agree this was a careless thing to say while a patient is having a test. You should have said "you almost gave me a heart attack when you said that". I hope all your tests turn out well.

Oh I am sorry to read that you had a fright there. I do hope you say something, one thing I have noticed is that often those who tend to so many patients day in and day out forget that they are actually dealing with people who are concerned about experiencing symptoms and what these symptoms mean. If you didn't say anything you should because it is truely important that these nurses and technicians be reminded to consider the fact that patients ARE concerned and DO worry about ALL comments being made.

This is coming from a person who was yelled at to be quiet while I was placed on a board and carried down my stairs to an ambulance. I was literally dieing and am lucky to be here. AND, when I was on the operating table, the nurse that was in charge of putting in a catherator got all upset because she could not find the entry as I am very small. Not a good experience to have before being put under approaching emergency surgery as that was my last conscious experience. And I was very frightened.

Please make sure you say something. And anyone who is treated like a thing instead of a human being should truely speak up.

Thanks for this!

I'm super sensitive and scared of hospitals and would have probably fainted if that happened! I had the muscle spasm/headache situation once too. Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks for this!

ah..that sounds like a classic stumpy experience!

i was having pre-surgery testing & they were doing an ultrasound of my side (gall bladder surgery) & the technician/nurse what ever asks me "who removed your kidney?"

i answered the only way i knew how.."aliens?" who knew it was missing...i certainly didn't...always just assumed it was where it was supposed to be..just happily filtering along on my left side.

so she scanned again & by now was getting mad that i didn't know when it was removed (now mind you i have no surgery scars for the said removal)..so she asks when was it surgically removed? so i told her it wasn't that i know if...hence the aliens.

i am totally confused by this point...she can't find my kidney & is telling me it's been surgically removed & i was there for a gall bladder operation..

so she finally moves on to the right side & guess what she finds the right kidney, & then she gets all quiet & calls for the dr. they confer & said "we found your left kidney. it's on the right side. with another one...you have 3"

great...3 kidneys, 1 side..lucky me. stupid tech arguing & insisting i had the 1 operated on before...

hope all goes well with you stuff big D...feel better..
Thanks for this!

thanks again for the concern you guys, I'm ok, the doctor said it's just stress causing the muscles on the back of my head to tighten (or something like that? lol) and some pain killers should help and he said it should go away within another few days/week or two

that's some pretty obnoxious nursing lol, I have a friend who has the same kidney situation, he had to give up all contact sports when he found out it was like that as one hard hit could completely disable all kidneys, be careful with that!

Hahaha my dentist did that to me a few years back xD

welll something like it anyways

I was getting my tooth pulled and he had just yanked it out and a nurse walked by and was like "OH MY GOD YOU PULLED THE WRONG TOOTH"
I was flipping out

but turns out i just had a long root on that tooth so it looked like an adult tooth rather than a baby tooth hehe
