The depression is setting in. It always happens this time of year. It's freezing cold, and I'm hibernating.. don't feel like going outside, and sunshine is a rarity here in michigan this time of year.
Everything seems so bleak... i know what my triggers are but it's an enormous battle to keep from feeling like this.
I have few friends in rl so it just adds to the struggle to keep a positive frame of mind...
if i didn't have my friends on here i don't know what i'd do...

thanks for listening...

Develop a wellness toolbox
Come up with a list of things that you can do for a quick mood boost. Include any strategies, activities, or skills that have helped in the past. The more “tools” for coping with depression, the better. Try and implement a few of these ideas each day, even if you’re feeling good:

Spend some time in nature
List what you like about yourself
Read a good book
Watch a funny movie or TV show
Take a long, hot bath
Take care of a few small tasks
Play with a pet
Write in your journal
Listen to music
Do something spontaneous
http://www.helpguide.org/mental/depression_tips.htm
i know depression can cause me to have no motivation at all. even attempting the smallest task at first i believe gives me encouragement to keep trying. it can be a really, really small thing. sometimes that's all we can do at first. like just going for a short walk, etc.
i'm glad you posted cause so many of us can relate to how you are feeling. we're here for you and i encourage you to keep posting...get it out here at pc. it helps!
lots of hugs coming your way.

Hey Capricorn,

Sorry things are getting a bit OTT!

I know you might not be able to do this but maybe you could think of this and work with it in a sense?

Make up a "happy box" It should contain everything and anything that makes you happy... pictures, concert tickets, toys, stuffed animals, letters etc etc!! I wrote a thread on happy boxes in the depression and bipolar forums so have a look there and see if there is any ideas you can pince

Hope you start to feel better soon!!

I know whereof you speak. Winter is rough for me, too. I hope you have enough light in your main living area. I bring in an additional lamp during the winter because there never seems to be enough light.
Thanks for this!

Hang in there Capricorn ... The clocks spring forward on March 11th!

I, too, find myself despondent, depressed, despairing this time of year ... simply hate it when that clock falls back one hour making the dark hours longer.

It's like I turn into a hibernating bear of some kind. All I have the energy for is to work, eat and sleep. And if I could get away with not working, I'd do that too!

Here's a BIG HUG for ya! Hope it helps!

Since I'm definitely a winter-type person, it's too bad we can't switch off somehow my friend. In the meantime ...
((((( ** big hugs capricorn1975 sitting near ** )))))

Do you like cats? My big red tiger cat Buster would love to come hug you! He spots you, and if you look hug-receptive he comes flying thru the air--hits you about mid abs like a medicine ball (17lbs) arms spread wide & holds on tight. Unless you hold on back he slides all the way down, then sits at your feet looking sad.

If you're hibernating, feel free to come by my cave. We'll turn the A/C on, lite a fire, make soup, have a few friends in ...

Roadrunner

Thanks all. I too have the hibernation instinct during this first storm. I know Spring will come, and try to find meaning in this season...plans and dreams.

Man, I hate the winter. Does this to me too. Actually when it gets bad enough I will put myself in a tanning booth. Gives me an artificial dose of sun, but it does help.
